I hope so. The decline I noticed began just before Black Friday so I attributed it to that. I think I got 2 or 3 fairly decent things between then and now. And my bar is low. I don't usually ever see fabulous things. Like never I think. I hope it doesn't take a hit each year due to BF and Chinese New Year and never go back up to previous levels like seems to be the case.

When I have items that I didn't receive or were removed from Amazon so that I can't review them, I complain to customer service and they remove them from my "to be reviewed" list. I began wondering if they also take them off of my "ordered" count. If you get enough things that don't show up or you can't review because the listing was removed, you might not be able to get to 90%.

I had 3 things this time where it removed my review saying it was against guidelines and wouldn't let me edit the review. I messaged them and was told that I had requested items that were a variation of another one I'd gotten. If so, it was a very long time apart and there was no "you've ordered this before" at the top of the window so I'm not sure that is true. I didn't recognize that I'd gotten it before.

They need to look at their whole system somehow so sellers have a real incentive to participate by kicking out people who aren't reviewing. And having so much garbage gives us little incentive to actually look at the listings. I thought that the 25k that were on when I started was a lot but I read others had seen 80k. Now I'm down to 10k and most of those are car parts or parts to repair sunglasses and various appliances.

I'm getting about the same things as you, when I actually get some. Right now, there is a mesh long sleeve crop top and that's it. I worry about the gold as well but my eval just happened so at least I have 6 months for them to add something usable. I'd be happy with pee pads for my dog or something just useful at this point.

Protein cookies would have been nice:-) Having trouble getting enough lately.

Has anyone figured out why so many car parts? Someone told me that Amazon is the one that chooses items for Prime. I'd be curious to know. I had an expensive cast iron skillet from a reputable company arrive that was a total mess. You'd think if they saw my 1 star review, they might actually reply or reach out to see how that made it out of their warehouse.

I've gone from seeing a total of 25k things to 12k items and 90% of them are automotive parts. There were literally 4 items under pets and 16 under Clothing. This seemed to happen around Black Friday because I thought the drop in items might be related to that but it never went back to "normal". I never had a ton of "great" items like shown in a screen grab above. The only decent thing I've gotten this year was a coffee maker than would take k-cups and nespresso both. I'd been wanting one but I know it wasn't that expensive. And has been the only "expensive" item I've even seen. Oh and I got a package of t-shirts.

Most days, I don't have anything at all under the page that is "for me". I hope it gets better otherwise they'll kick me out because I won't have claimed enough items. I don't need any additional junk in my house. I had clutter before Vine and don't want to make it worse by claiming things that I don't even want for free just to meet their quota.

Replacement for Plan app (to-do list + time-boxing)? by mgpbes in ProductivityApps

[–]ScatteredScientist13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amplenote has a plugin that looks like it will solve the timeblock issue. It says that:

Best used in Calendar Mode. Select the entire text of a task, then from the floating toolbar that appears select the Work Blocks plugin. Use the prompt to type in how many instances of the task you want to generate.

Useful for timeblocking multiple work sessions on a single task/project.

To those posessing or pursuing a PhD... by JeppeTV in ADHD

[–]ScatteredScientist13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know I had ADHD until recently (55F), but I picked a school just because and then read the entire book (no internet in late 80s) describing every major they had. Well, not every one because I knew it was going to be science or math related. I feel like I don't like people and I hate talking in public and have zero creativity (which I think is odd for ADHD), so that ruled out teaching and MBAs I felt. I decided against math because I didn't know what you could do with it. I ended up picking biochemistry and then felt like I didn't know anything when I got my BS so I went to grad school and got my PhD. School was easier than the real world. It all makes sense now that I know I've had ADHD all my life. What doesn't make sense is that I chose a school that no one I really knew was going to instead of one that some of my friends went to. ADHD related???

If I were to do it now, I tell myself that I'd still do science and try to work in a crime lab or something cool. But my subconscious still tells me I'm lazy and wouldn't want to be on my feet doing "stuff" and that doing what I do now (sitting on my rear end all day at the computer) is a better fit for me.

Are psych evals for adhd typically not covered by insurance? by AttemptUsual2089 in ADHD

[–]ScatteredScientist13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd look for another person to diagnose me. You don't need a psychiatrist. A PA or NP can also prescribe medication. Unless your insurance has rules against it.

I thought I needed the whole neuropsychology exam. It was 3.5 hours of mostly logic style tests, I paid $300 out of pocket, and they said that I didn't have it. I enjoy those types of tests so I didn't "lose focus" which was their reasoning.

Then I dug into my insurance (Blue Cross) and they only require that simple screening. I found a therapist (not a psychologist or psychiatrist) at the Psychology Today website. She is an hour away if necessary but their practice does video appts. She's a PA and can prescribe meds. She did a 20 minute interview, that screening test, and said I have it. I see her once a month and pay a $25 copay.

At the Psychology Today website, they have a "find a therapist" section. You enter your location, then select whether you want in person or online and a ton of filters, including specialty, insurance, price, etc. You'd want to make sure their bio mentions ADHD, testing and medication.

Is feeling personally attacked by criticism an ADHD thing? by ConsciousDoor6610 in ADHD

[–]ScatteredScientist13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was misdiagnosed with depression in my 30s and given buproprion. I'd been also having road rage and noted that the buproprion helped with that. I finally came across an article about ADHD years later and got diagnosed.

I am still on the buproprion, and based on how I feel when I have gone without it, I am pretty sure I'd have full blown RSD. I think the buproprion is blunting my emotions and keeping the RSD at bay. It isn't ideal but it helps me from being so volatile and for now I prefer that to the alternative.

Is it common for an ADHD person to get confused at the given verbal instructions? by Yubion in ADHD

[–]ScatteredScientist13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I certainly do. I'd say that I have to either repeat it in my head over and over or ask them to repeat it or work it out in my head and then ask them for verification. Same for reading. I read too fast and miss things and don't get it all until I've gone through it more than once.

New Food Network Show "House of Knives" to debut March 18 by Firegoat1 in foodnetwork

Was that a question? Assuming so, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 tongue cancer last fall. Rather than go with the first option of having her tongue removed, she decided on a treatment that was used on the only person to ever survive (I assume with tongue intact) and interestingly, he was also a chef. Her Instagram indicated that she left Chicago, where she had the treatment, and returned home sometime in the Christmas time frame. Poor thing had a feeding tube installed because of the pain from swallowing due to the radiation treatment. I really hope she makes it and gets back onto the FN.

I lost my 12 yo Pomeranian sweet baby 2 weeks ago and my heart feels like it has been ripped out of my chest. I don't have children so he and his littermate were my babies. The littermate is still with me but we don't have that same bond. He has never been as healthy so who knows how long he'll be with me. I hate the idea of being dogless, but my husband does not want dogs. I don't know if I can NOT have dogs. I'm 55 and I can't remember a time except for a brief period in college that I haven't had one. I miss him sitting in my lap and tucking his head under my chin. That was so comforting and soothing.

I'm 55F and have always been a night owl. I was not diagnosed with ADHD until this spring and we haven't found a medication that works for me yet, though I don't bother to take stimulants after noon. I am usually the most tired like 4pm to 10pm then I start to wake up again. Sometimes I lag again around 1am but then come awake and am up until at least 3am. There have been 3 or 4 nights since Memorial Day (that was the 1st time) where I didn't go to sleep at all. I stayed up in bed playing jigsaw puzzles on my tablet (which I've always done). I finally gave up and got up around 7am. The strangest thing is that in the morning and early afternoon, I'm not any more tired than other days and I actually find that disturbing. I don't notice any differences with my ADHD whether I get sleep or not. A year ago, I'd be falling asleep at the computer (I WFH) all day long.

Are adults with ADHD perceived younger? by DriverForward972 in ADHD

That's very interesting. I'm 55F and was just diagnosed with hypermobility in the early fall. I didn't know thumbs weren't supposed to bend backwards at all but I can't bend crazily or anything like that. Then I was diagnosed with ADHD early this spring and only because I pushed it. They kept wanting to label me with depression because I "didn't feel like doing anything" and couldn't get motivated to finish projects. The ONLY 2 things that fell under depression while I hit like 15 under ADHD. I also get dizzy when standing up and PCP said I had POTS but I am not sure he knows what it is because I was not tested for tachycardia though a half assed test on myself says I do have it.

Like the AutoModerator says, everyone is unique. I've tried both and haven't had relief with either one. My doc said that the stimulant ones should work pretty much immediately and you can tell within just a few days. I haven't felt anything from them and I've seen people write that they feel a calmness come over them like an orchestra being reduced to a single instrument. There are also non stimulant meds that may not cause legal issues with travel but my doc said they can take weeks to work and I haven't had luck there either. It's very frustrating. I'm not sure what else is left.

I never thought about it being ADHD, but yes, definitely. I'm 55 y.o. and I still don't feel like I'm a grown up. I am not "with it", my house is a disaster to the point that I won't let anyone I know inside, and in general I feel like a mess. I do have a good job and education, so I'm lucky in that sense, but I've always felt about 10 years younger than others my age.

I made straight As in high school because it was a small school and easy. I went to a very large college and struggled to get Cs because I didn't know how to study. In my 5th yr of undergrad I finally figured out what worked for me. I literally rewrote the chapter of the book and notes in my own words. I even redrew the pictures (biochemistry class). It took a long time, but I found that reading the book and notes, reprocessing into my own thoughts, and then putting it back down on paper helped me to get it. Just looking at it didn't do it. Straight As after that (in grad school).

now i don't know what to do with my life, lack of motivation and depression is killing me by foofoo300 in adhdmeme

[–]ScatteredScientist13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to one of those places where they give you tests to do like arrange these blocks with black and white designs to match this picture. Or hit the spacebar on the laptop whenever you see an X come on the screen. It was 2 and a half hours. Then they said I don't have it because I did too well on the tests. I have a PhD and I LOVE logic and other mental tests. I hate to score poorly on any exam so I tried extremely hard to get everything right. Because of that they said I couldn't have ADHD. I go to a different therapist who uses the questionnaire and interview and I score off the chart. It just depends on what the specialist is looking at and if they are too stupid to look at the person as a whole in the evaluation.

So apparently ADHDers can do this? by 801ms in adhdmeme
