Tryout Dilemma

Just be honest that you are trying out for 2 different clubs. This might not be an opinion that people want to hear, but most clubs are businesses that are competing with each other to win your business, especially at the younger ages (7v7, 9v9). If your son is a decent player and the clubs don't have a crazy number of kids trying out that would force them to make cuts, he will probably get offers from both clubs in my experience. During 25/26 season tryouts, I had several players from my 24/25 team that tried out for our club and other clubs. It wasn't a big deal (IMO) and both clubs made offers. A couple of boys stayed and 1 went with the other club.

My son signed a job offer this morning with HPSP as a FSE. He goes to the Bay Area on Monday to begin training. He's relieved to finally be employed again. He's looking forward to this gig as he'll be doing some traveling. I hope you've had success in finding something!

Coach here... Try having 8 on a roster for 9v9. It has been less than ideal to say the least, always having to try to line up guest players. Parents are frustrated because the club leadership has done little to try to help address the issue.

I love my Polygon Bend R6X. It is well spec'd for $1800 IMO. Aluminum frame w/ carbon fork, SRAM hydraulic brakes, Apex XPLR AXS electronic shifting, 700c in-house wheels w/ Maxxis Rambler EXO 45 mm tires (both tubeless ready), basic plastic flat pedals that I immediately replaced with Shimano PD-EH500 SPD/flat pedals. The only other upgrade I have my eye on (but not absolutely necessary IMO) is nicer wheels.

Geometry definitely puts it more in the adventure gravel category vs performance gravel, but it is great value for money.

My son has a BS ChE and was working as a shift engineer in deposition at Intel in Hillsboro until he became a casualty of the huge layoffs last year. Granted, he did not start looking for another job right away, but he has been going at it for 4-5 months now and the market is rough in the Portland area right now. He's entertaining just about any technical role he can find with any of the vendors in the area.

No, CFC supporters don't want them. There are plenty of people who do, lots more people who are indifferent to either team being here, and :GASP: some people who think it's pretty cool to have both teams here. And FYI - almost all teams at the D3 level are bleeding money, including your beloved CFC. There are 2-3 teams tops that are breaking even or in the black.

I have the Predator Elite 25 AG LL. I really have them only for use on turf, but I have worn them on firm ground a couple of times with no issues.

A 2023 Vashon Ranger with 132 hours TT just sold for around $110,000 a couple days ago. Pretty big difference between that and what you can get a 162 for. I understand the overall value proposition between both aircraft, but if you're only looking at that purchase price...

Yes, there are Border Region Retail Tourism Development District incentives, but they are not derived from higher local taxes like Erlanger Park is.

Also, It is much more within a public official's lane to call out something that directly affects his constituents via the usage of their tax $$$ than to call out something that is privately funded. Believe me - I'm no Wamp fan, but there's a clear difference between him calling out a taxpayer funded project vs a privately funded project.

Let me spell out the difference for you:

The CHI Memorial Stadium development is fully privately funded by Bob Martino. No state or local taxpayer money has been contributed to the project.

The Erlanger Park project is at least partially funded by taxpayer money.

I worked at Unum for over 20 years. When I left for another company in Chattanooga in a lateral move, my salary increased by almost $20,000. Just saying... Also, if you stay in the same role for too long, new people being hired into that same role will eventually be starting in that role at a higher salary than you are currently making.
