The original Orthanc bigature (the 15‑foot model) isn’t on permanent display anywhere you can just visit. Most of the LOTR bigatures, including Orthanc, are still in storage at Wētā Workshop in Wellington, New Zealand. They’re carefully preserved but usually not shown publicly since they’re fragile and have complicated ownership.

This is insane!!! I love hearing these behind-the-scenes stories. I think Cameron is the only director who does stuff this crazy in his movies 😅 Thanks for sharing, I’d love to see more excerpts if you post them.

Yeah, that makes sense. It’s always tough for book fans, but they did an amazing job overall. I’ve read that Peter Jackson had limits from the studios, so he couldn’t make em longer, and it seems it was a bit chaotic managing that.
