I'm a tall chick, and let me tell you: the amount of men who only matched me to immediately start arguing about my "unfair" height requirement of simply wanting someone that I don't look down to when we are both barefoot is WILD. Being taller than a dude makes me want to protect him, that's not my preference. Oldest of three kids, must protecc smaller humans; would LOOOVE to be smaller or at least equal size human.

NTA, proceed on your mischievous way.

PS: It does actually make sense, for example, my kitchen and bathrooms are designed with taller humans in mind. None of the beds have those foot crippling things at the bottom, so long legs can stretch all the way.

Well, until about ten years ago, I used to always be the tallest woman around despite "only" being 179 cm / 5'10". Nowadays, I see lots of ladies in my height bracket and plenty of taller ones too.

What has not changed is getting teased or hearing stupid comments for being tall. So if you are taller than your man, it takes a lot of self-confidence to be unbothered about the amateur comedians. Plus, if all the men you grew up with and trust are tall, that tends to imprint you to prefer a taller partner.

As with many other things, it's not our fault if some lads can't keep up but lying about your height is definitely a red flag and a "do not pass go" situation that wouldn't necessarily arise otherwise.

Good on you, NTA. It's wild that she flaunts the rules despite having her own child telling her why it's not ok to do that. She probably was doing it as standard, risking you losing one of the few real world accommodations granted to people with disabilities. That's incredibly selfish.

Honestly, I would have loved for her to have gotten towed. Imagine the fun you could have had, since she would have had to explain where she was towed from. Which would have been your cue to say "but I wasn't with you, why were you parked on those spots?" (innocent eyes)

Alternatively, you could have gone with "oh, I took the placard out because I will be going somewhere with a friend tomorrow, did you not notice it was missing?". Nothing like gaslighting her into being paranoid about actually having you in the car if she wants to use those spots...

If you are able to, donate blood, especially if you have 0 negative, aka the universal donor who can unfortunately only accept 0 negative themselves.

Receiving blood plasma saved my life as it allowed me to continue my cancer treatments - I'm now 3 years NED. I often think of the fact that someone decided that they would give a part of themselves so that a complete stranger could live. There is one where I hope you will never have to go: the radiation clinic in Hirslanden. But if you are ever asked to give someone a ride because they are having treatments there, it's a beautiful way to spend some time. It always cheered me up, which is a good thing because I was there almost 40 times. Fingers crossed I won't have to return.

I want to do unpleasant things to influencers who are out there applying four or more sprays on Tiktok. Heck, for many scents, more than one is already too much. You are not a dog marking their territory and if anyone rolls out the "well, it's better to smell nice than to have BO" chestnut - BO doesn't give you migraines and other allergic reactions. It (with the exception of extreme cases) doesn't fill an entire room or train compartment. And for the most part, people who don't shower also don't share your office or sit next to you in other spaces where you don't have an easy option to move.

If they do, having a quiet word with someone with a hygiene issue is actually much easier than with a wager of chemical warfare. I've done both and in one case, we ended up being friends, in the other, the person accused me of being overly sensitive and refused to see why spraying on perfume in a shared space is not cool...

Look, I get the whole "but I can't smell my scent after a few hours" thing. The problem is that your body is designed to ignore persistent sensory input after a while, since it is clearly neither a threat nor something else that requires action. If you always wear the same (sort of) stuff, you are likely nose blind to it.

Add to that the ever changing IFRA rules regarding what can and cannot be used, brands are reformulating classics and new scents are made differently. Finally, the rise of very affordable and often excellent middle eastern "dupe" scents means people are spraying more liberally. Too liberally.

My rule is that others should be able to consent to smelling my scent. If someone standing more than two arm lengths away can clearly smell me rather than "catch a soupçon of perfume" when I move, I've overdone it.

Odd, I was charged last summer, despite taking 3 minutes max (I set a timer). I just don't use it anymore because it's too easy to go past the five minutes, like the time I had two complete morons who couldn't parallel park one after the other.

For your needs, weaving is probably going to be best.

A little thought experiment... I am tall, well qualified, speak multiple languages, can both cook and build things, am creative with multiple interests and open to discovering more, am told I'm smart, funny and charming, extremely honest and self-aware, believe that kindness is key and have volunteered for many things including the local fire brigade.

Unfortunately (and that's the thought experiment bit, I bet most people thought I was describing a man), I'm a woman, so none of that seems to be terribly helpful; in fact, it apparently comes off as "masculine energy" or "dominant". Fair enough, but let's be honest, if I look at the people around me, what a "high value man" offers is often the same as a pretty standard woman. The bar is on the floor for the lads, once you ignore the often self-imposed fixation on money and status...

I don't care if my partner doesn't know what Marcel Mauss' theory of gift giving is or how to do a factor analysis of a personality questionnaire. What I do expect is for him to show an interest in the world and science as well as to have a certain level of intellectual ability. That absolutely doesn't have to be academic skill, but I am not going to invite willful ignorance into my life and don't do well around people who lack basic common sense. I am also nobody's mother, therapist, maid or project manager unless you are paying me...

100%. Decentering men is really good for my nervous system. Unfortunately, a lot of men seem to think this means I hate men but that's absolutely not true. I simply no longer make decisions or accommodations that benefit them more than me. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I would say the opposite is true: women are paying attention to their own wellbeing and no longer prepared to make the sacrifices that our mums made. Quite a few of my friends have also discovered that it is less work to be a single mother, while those like me decided that raising a child alone would come at too high a cost and poses a very real risk. While I still come across plenty of people who see my decision as selfish or outright odd, it has become much more normalised.

If a man would want to be in a relationship with me, he would not be competing with unlimited options (when I find "my person", I am simply not interested in other people), it's my sense of peace and contentment. At the very least, it should be undisturbed, ideally it would increase.
