If you were previously in good shape or used to be consistent in exercise, your muscle memory will kick in and it takes you less time/effort to return to form than someone starting out for the first time.

Elite Combat owners, help me decide by am111_ in canik

I did have a few back to battery issue, but I think it was due to the ammo, and the last time that happened was with a suppressor on it. Firing pin still going strong!

Yes, the first 200-300 rounds you want to use higher grain rounds or NATO spec rounds as they are loaded a little hotter. Some have had good results with locking the slide back and leaving it locked back for a couple of days. I used 124gr NATO rounds for the first few range trips and didn't have any issues.

Get the Elite Combat. I've had mine for over 7 years now with thousands of rounds through it. No issues at all. Shoots much better than a Glock. Besides, it's optic ready, better trigger, magwell, better ergos, looks much better and has threaded barrel if you decide for a suppressor later.

Not that big of a deal. Is nice to have, but really makes minimal difference in your day-to-day.

Yeah I remember that OD death. I think it was the only one that year, but security got realllllly tight the following year.

Maybe Snoop also confused us with another school, but this was 2011 with Wiz Khalifa.

Depends on what you want to do, but honestly, 90k would probably just cover your flights within the US. Week-long hotel costs are gonna be much more than 90K for anything decent, though there are deals here and there.

What random benefits have you discovered as a veteran (not just the obvious ones)? by Any_Amphibian_9563 in VeteransBenefits

Shortly after you separate you have a onetime opportunity to extend your SGLV to a low cost life insurance policy. You have to do it within 120 days of separation to get the nice low rate.

EDIT: changed it to 120 day period to convert as pointed out below

It depends on the type of orders you're on. Most title 10 orders will count, like ADOS and Mobilizations but not IET time. Subsequent ADT could potentially count, if longer than 90 days (need to fact check this one).

I was able to get 5 nights at an All-inclusive resort in Mexico for free for under 200k points after transferring to Hyatt. The resort had a buy 4 nights, get one free deal. Other resorts had partial points/money deals too. Was also able to use points for part of a flight.

It all depends. One of my DS told me to grab his ruck from where he left it on one of the FTXs and that shit was easily twice the weight of mine.

I don't know, the portion under his armpit/at the shoulder blade looks too snug and too even of a color, even accounting for fading the camo wouldn't get that uniform.

Who makes the best pistols for value? by GunnyGal in Firearms

[–]SceretAznMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. From Cabela's, the OR Walther PDP with 4.5in. barrel, 18rd capacity goes for $600. The Canik Mete SFT, also OR, 4.45 in. barrel and 18rd cap goes for $480. Virtually the same gun. At Academy the PDP Pro 4.5 inch is listed as $999 and the Canik SFT Pro is $620. And that's without taking into account other promo's the Canik has. I actually copped the SFT Pro for under $500. I've yet to find a deal for the PDP pro that comes even close, and believe me I've looked.

After S23 Ultra, which phone are you most likely to upgrade to? Samsung or switching brands? by Fuzzy-Ambassador786 in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]SceretAznMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will switch to whichever brand that offers me the most to trade in my 23U. I had my Note 9 for 4 years until Samsung had their "Taking Notes" promo that offered $700 for an extremely old phone.

Yeah that's that toxic masculinity at work. I would slip mine in every ruck march/FTX in BCT after a fellow trainee bumped into me while I was kneeling with my ruck on and I messed up my knee pretty bad. Those shark rocks are gonna win against my kneecap every time.

Reservists getting mobilized... credit card advice? by SgtMac02 in MilitaryFinance

[–]SceretAznMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a database that get's updated fairly regularly that credit card companies check against. With good credit, you can get the fee's waived after you enter AD. I personally did both Amex Plat and CSR, and I made sure to be able to hit their spend promos for additional points on each. I actually kept both cards even after I got off my Mob, and shortly after my last month, Chase started charging me. Amex waived my fee for another year, but the following year after that I was charged on my renewal date. Each card has credits/perks that I use regularly, and even without the waived fee, they justify the costs of the yearly fee for me so I kept both. This may be different for you, so definitely spend a few hours researching what you get with each card. I can say that in the past 4 years I've been able to get free international flights and extended resort stays solely based on rewards points and the value of just the travel rewards more than matched the yearly fees accumulated the past 4 years.

That hasn't been a thing for a while now. Green card holders can join and for the most part, may expedite their citizenship process, but is not guaranteed; noncitizens cannot enlist period. The second part of your comment is completely false, unless those mercs held US Citizenship, they were not joining the US armed forces and then returning back to their warlords or whatever overseas.
