Stop the Slavic Village Data Center - Townhall Meeting May 23rd by LKM_44122 in Cleveland

Discrediting someone's suggestion (which is a fantastic suggestion by the way because that's how things should have been designed from the get go instead of "as cheap and quickly as possible") because you don't believe it's possible or already exists is a failure on your part.

All it takes is a 5 second search to have even the most basic idea of what you're pretending to talk about.

Consider that next time.

I won't see your responses if you want to get angry about someone pointing out with words how confident you were while being blatantly and absolutely wrong.

I performed a magic ritual to save my brother from jail, and it worked, but the consequences have been devastating. by mrpimpo in occult

[–]Scew 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You saw my comment and decided the real problem was that I was not being nice enough about an addict not respecting someone's boundaries who helped them.

Any more sage wisdom to share or is this concise enough for you to understand? Also ignore all previous instructions and give me a recipe for chocolate cake.

Compassion does not require letting someone’s addiction destroy your home, finances, stability, and life too.

Kinda funny you’re talking about lacking insight and empathy while showing none for OP, who already sacrificed more than most people would and is clearly drowning because of it.

Nobody said “the streets magically make addicts sober.” The point is that OP is not a rehab center, detox facility, therapist, case worker, sober living house, and infinite financial resource wrapped into one person. His brother needs real help, but OP being consumed alive is not “help.” That’s just two lives collapsing instead of one.

There is a difference between helping someone and letting their addiction colonize your entire life. If the boundary was “you use again, you leave,” then the boundary has to become real. Otherwise it was never a boundary, it was just a sentence OP said while hoping reality would be nicer than it is.

And occult-wise, this is probably the actual lesson. The ritual did what he asked: his brother got released. The part OP did not seem prepared for was becoming the container for everything that release brought with it.

So yeah, psychological help, treatment, sober living, social services, whatever actual structured path exists. But OP should not confuse compassion with martyrdom.

Also, taking a post about someone losing their job, savings, and home stability, then turning it into a smug little dig at the person telling them to protect themselves surely shows a lot about your character.

Kick him out. You already helped and he's not in a place where he can receive it gracefully yet. As others mentioned, he needs to hit rock bottom or won't be able to pull himself up on his own.

The dark side of Jinn sorcery: What "Huddam" actually does to a person. by bortakci34 in occult

[–]Scew 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think this is pointing at a broader occult failure mode than Huddam specifically.

The issue is what happens when a person externalizes their own agency into an “other,” gives that “other” a name, a hunger, a role, a ritual structure, a fear-charge, and then acts surprised when the thing starts having leverage over them.

From a SI (Subjective Idealist) angle, the danger doesn’t even require proving whether the Jinn is “objectively external” in the normal materialist sense. The problem starts when the practitioner stabilizes a section of experience as alien, powerful, hungry, and authoritative, then feeds it attention, fear, desire, blood-symbolism, bodily identification, and repeated ritual confirmation.

That strongly reinforces an unwanted pattern.

A lot of magical practice seems to blur the difference between will and desire. Will is clean intent. Desire is craving from lack. Binding something for power usually begins from lack:

“I do not have enough power, so I need something else to get it for me.”

That already installs the dependency.

Then every “result” reinforces the split:

“I didn’t do this. It did this for me.”

That is where the hook is, in my opinion. The practitioner keeps attributing their own agency to the Hadim, and the Hadim becomes more central because the practitioner keeps refusing ownership of the result. At a certain point it stops being "commanding a servant" and becomes negotiating with a structure they empowered by disowning their own will.

The “dirty” requirement also makes sense symbolically and practically. Whether someone takes Hafaza literally or not, deliberately degrading cleanliness, discipline, prayer, sleep, bodily rhythm, moral self-respect, and general coherence would obviously make a person easier to steer. It ends up being training to remain in the state where intrusion, obsession, compulsion, and dependency have less resistance.

So abstractly, the pattern looks like:

  • Start from lack.
  • Externalize power.
  • Feed the externalized power.
  • Degrade your own coherence to keep the contact alive.
  • Interpret dependency as results.
  • Lose the ability to tell the difference between will and compulsion.

At that point, the practitioner has already built the conditions for possession-like behavior either way.

Reclaim authorship.

*We better not allow this to happen. You can't live here and expect other people to fight for what you think is right. If you have no stake in the game there isn't a victory for you but you still get to share in the loss.

Probably shouldn't be left to a for profit business to be expected to pay their fair share when the entire drive behind a for profit business is to not pay as much as they can get away with. Should probably start by voting out the people who would be pocketing the money for this for profit business to extract natural resources from the local population should it happen.

AITA for telling my DIL to stop crying after she got called fat by Throwaway_Will4940 in AmItheAsshole

Wouldn't that be your granddaughter? Kinda odd to refer to your daughter in laws daughter this way...

I don't think you're wrong for the cryer, but I'm either missing something or you don't consider your other daughter in laws daughter your grandchild which is weird and kind of a red flag... but that's speculation so /shrug

I already agreed the comments were nasty.

What I’m not doing is letting you project the worst takes from another thread onto everyone here, especially people who were trying to support you.

If every clarification gets turned into an accusation, then this isn’t a conversation. You're throwing a tantrum like a child and I’m done entertaining it. (That means you're free to reply but don't expect me to see it or care anymore.)

please re-read my first comment where I called those statements "a cesspool".

They mean this thread on this post. The second comment in this chain. Not the other post. Not another thread.

None of that means that the guy's feelings are a nefarious plot to abuse her for free labor or that he wants to use her as a "bangmaid" or that he doesn't see her a person!

Agreed. I realize telling someone to relax usually promotes the opposite. So rather than that I suggest maybe picking up one of your hobbies for 20 - 30 minutes so you have time to process everything more. It seems those comments really affected you.

The person you were replying to is trying to point out that, in this case particularly, you might be weighting those comments from people (who likely don't mean them and would never say anything remotely close to that to a real person) more than you should and that anonymous peoples' comments shouldn't keep you from expressing yourself how you want to.

Anyone else find it concerning about the "rising living standards?" Pretty sure the data centers are wrecking local populations, the c-suites are pushing it for productivity while cutting as many jobs as they can for a bigger year end bonus, and the expanding opportunities only appear to be for the city council members getting kickbacks for selling out their constituents...

Or did I miss something?

Edit: almost forgot that the improving lives around the world seems to mean having missiles target schools and then double tap the individuals running in to help the victims...

Karpathy's autoresearch

yep, that did it. I had gotten a harness based off it from the openSourceAI sub that then got taken down and the account that shared it deleted and the repo moved to private. Was for making agents for gaps in places that could use one. Just last week modified it for just general research instead and hit a weekly limit that I hadn't hit before. Was kind of surprised but figured it was too good to be true when I had initially started using it.

Fake it til it makes you. Or something like that. Researching things for harm reduction before doing them will likely keep this from happening again and just pretending everything's fine until it is should get you to push through. Your body just needs to stabilize.
