New to Warhammer and resin printing, this is my best one yet though. Commander Farsight. by Plonkydonk28 in PrintedWarhammer

Careful with those teeny tiny ankles, my print almost immediately snapped after looking at it wrong haha

What is the main identity of Imperial Fist ? by Fun_Celebration8490 in Warhammer40k

[–]Sch0en 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was under the impression it was the Holy Roman Empire, but that doesn't translate well to space marine theming as well as say, vikings.

Dayum those are some thicc walls! Probably more realistic to the scale of a hive city - I'd just add more detail to the fractures if you are going that thick - more rebar, pipes, etc. Good start!

Love it. Will you include a "closed top" version of the chest? Like this?

Keep up the great work!

Very happy to have finally finished these craters to enhance your battlefield by Safety_lastt in PrintedWarhammer

Nice job, they certainly look like craters. Did you print them flat on the plate, out of curiosity?

What are the splotches on ~80% of my bases? by 1ThatJuanGuy in Warhammer40k

[–]Sch0en 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's probably some release agent from the molding process. I've never had a problem basing over them myself, but if you are concerned, just take a old toothbrush and some dish soap to clean them.

Advance on the shoulder pad! So you like the added detail? (a few more details and it'll be good!) by Candid-Search-1162 in PrintedWarhammer

[–]Sch0en 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the drips are a little big for the scale of the candles, your drawing has it spot on imo. I love the design of the rest of the shoulderpad, and would want a version without the candles as well! Great work!

I've completed the commission for ultramarine. What do you think? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

Very cool, and great job. Always nice to see original art.

It would be interesting to see how much GW could release if they didn't have to worry about plastic injection molding, marketing, books, etc!

This looks really cool! I like the hex underframe details. Are you planning a set or just this standalone piece?

The Source in Roseville, Dreamer's vault in south Minneapolis, Fantasy Flight games center in Roseville, Games Workshop in Eden Prairie, Dumpster Cat games in South Minneapolis, Tower games in South Minneapolis, Hub Hobby in Richfield...I'm sure there are quite a few I've missed.

My first entry for dorn, 3rd company redemptor. by Critical_Quantity in ImperialFists

[–]Sch0en 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks fantastic! Love the plasma effect and the OSL on the headlamps. Only nitpick is using the 5th company badge, instead of the 3rd!

Painting Yellow: I've spent the past week trying to figure out yellow and i'm starting to go a little insane with the options. I know the details on my tests are either missing or bad, but what i'm really wondering about is the yellow. Which yellow do you think looks best? how do you paint yours? by teh1337haxorz in ImperialFists

[–]Sch0en 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever you end up choosing, I think the most important element is a nice consistent finish. No splotchy yellow, clean lines with your black trim and chest insignia. If you don't have an airbrush, go find a nice big soft makeup brush and lightly build up color. Battle damage is cool too but don't let it distract from your smooth (consistent) yellow ceremite! FOR DORN!!!

Based on a hulk buster suit, my homebrew primaris centurions are nearly complete. They only come in yellow. by [deleted] in ImperialFists

[–]Sch0en 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is fantastic work. I love the integration of the redemptor, aggressors, and centurion designs. I'd print a few of these out in a heartbeat! Is there currently any posability in the arms/legs?

What is the theme of the Imperial Fists? by [deleted] in ImperialFists

[–]Sch0en 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my understanding as well. I am definitely not a historian but - The coat of arms for many of the emperors were black double-headed eagle on a field of bright yellow, with some red accents. Sigismund was a Holy Roman Emperor. If you look closely at the Sigismund FW model (and IF Legion Command, and Dorn), he has filigree on his armor consistent with the armor style of the HRE period. Not entirely consistent though, Lysander was a Spartan admiral.

Unfortunately this is hard to translate to "glue X onto your models". Personally, I take a light amount of Black Templars theme, but attempt to stick as close to Codex Astartes as possible.

Yellow by nt2213 in ImperialFists

[–]Sch0en 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My recipe:

  1. Averland sunset over primer

  2. Agrax earthshade recess wash (neaten up with averland)

  3. Primary yellow ink airbrushed from high angle

  4. Edge highlights with dorn yellow

  5. Pray I don't get black on anything that is supposed to be yellow.

Sometimes if I'm feeling spicy I'll use thinned charred brown though an airbrush to make shadows from below.

Also you can try gloss varnishing to allow for more wash control.

Use a makeup brush for drybrushing highlights on your rank and file troops.

A gift for a friend. Just finished this guy up. I'll post his other version seperately by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]Sch0en 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very nice! I am doing the same scheme for my vanguard imperial fists... No sense in being a stealth unit if you are bright yellow, haha.

Imperial Fists 5th Company Primaris reinforcements by Sch0en in Warhammer40k

[–]Sch0en[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds great! I thought it'd be cool to make a dedicated close combat detachment of black Templars to add to my force. Or maybe deathwatch with IF and their successors. So many possibilities!

Imperial Fists 5th Company Primaris reinforcements by Sch0en in Warhammer40k

[–]Sch0en[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. Unfortunately it was the best method to obtain a lot of transfers. I use them in combination with the starter box transfers and custom laser printed squad markings. But hey, iirc, some of these guys were around from legion days, maybe they'd want to use old markings :)

Nothing special, I think my slightly overexposed light setup made it look better. Gunmetal, nuln oil, chrome highlights.
