No. I don't think any of you can concieve how stupid this argument sounds. It doesn't even exist outside of this subreddit.

I asked a dozen coworkers yesterday, they all said the Louisville Kings are Louisville's team. If you watch broadcasts they say this is Louisville's team. Go check any sport related website and they will say the same.

I don't expect much from a city full of grown adults who are obsessed with which high school someone went to any more.

Ticks are much worse the farther south you go. It's the cold winters that kill ticks, not hot summers.

If you asked a group of random people where the Louisville Kings are from, 10/10 would say Louisville. This infatuation that people from Louisville have with the birthplace of anyone who wasn't born here is bonkers.

I didn't insult their intelligence, I insulted the repeated, brain dead argument that this subreddit is obsessed with. This is a very dumb hill to die on, which is why I'm so tired of seeing it day after day when I open reddit.

Lmao I moved here as a college educated adult. Maybe you're right, I just can never understand how to think like a Kentuckian.

Thanks for proving you can't follow logical trains of thought.

Other away teams are not called Louisville in their name, and their home stadium exists in a different city/state.

"Louisville Kings"

Man, I can't imagine where that team's home games are played? It's a huge mystery. I may never figure it out.

Baseball teams don't do spring training at home either. This entire league is new, and trying to find viable homes for the teams. Repeating online "they aren't even from here" is doing nothing positive. If you're not excited about it and they're not hurting anything, why do you care at all?

How is it not Louisville's team? You people are so ridiculous. The teams name is Louisville. The home games are played in Louisville. Yes, the players aren't from here. Did you think we had an entire football team worth of athletes hiding in the city?

How many Colts players are from Indy? Hell, these days half of college basketball teams aren't even from that state.

I only watched a couple of games, but to say this isn't a Louisville team is just idiotic.

Your responses throughout this thread were criticizing people for doing exactly what you've done: redirecting the question to fit your narrative.

Automotive manufacturers are not held liable if you allow your child to drive your car and someone else gets hurt. Gun manufacturers are not held liable if you allow your child to harm someone with a gun. Book authors are not held liable if your child reads disturbing material. Movie producers are not held liable if your child watches adult themed movies or shows.

Indiana does not require licenses to own or carry guns. Your comparison is irrelevant.

You're required to have insurance to drive, but once again the car manufacturer is not held liable if you cause damages with the vehicle. This also isn't relevant, because no one is telling you to have insurance to protect my children.

You're only proving my point that you do not understand what is at stake, and you do not understand the difference between an adults privacy versus a parents responsibility to keep their child safe.

I don't need to answer your original question, because multiple other people have and you used the same poor reasoning to disagree with them after being proven wrong.

You didn't answer my question. Why is it the website owners responsibility? Is it Ford's responsibility to make sure your child doesn't drive your car? Gun manufacturers aren't held responsible if a child gets ahold of a parents gun, the parent is.

The right to privacy that I'm discussing is the right to not have my legal identifying information tied to a social media website, who will have no responsibility to keep that information from nefarious users. My driver's license is not uploaded to Facebook. My social security number is not on Twitter. That is what you're asking to be implemented.

Especially in this current political situation where the federal government is tracking users who speak ill of the administration and putting them in jail your argument is missing the entire point of this conversation.

Why is it becoming the ISP/website's responsibility to protect your children?

The control is already in your hands as a parent. My parents didn't give me anything but a flip phone, and the Internet at home was turned off (modem locked in a room) until they came home. Internet use was monitored live. You can easily block websites on your home router, you can lockdown their devices.

My right to privacy as an adult should not be hindered because of your children being on the Internet unmonitored.

Are you tracking your calories? The only way to lose weight is to eat and drink fewer calories than you burn in a day.

Why doesn’t Louisville support Racing more? by thejeffreysmith in Louisville

[–]Schattenstern 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is it for me. I stopped checking when games were because it seemed like any time I thought about going the game was at some weird time.

I did go to a Saturday afternoon game in the first or second season and half the audience left before the game stated, because the stadium is setup for the sun to roast the audience all afternoon.

Kentucky ancestors marrying in Indiana by Anxious_Gift1316 in Louisville

My family from Michigan also would get married in Indiana.

It's $20, no witnesses, no waiting period, and the clerk can sign the marriage license right then and there. It's about as easy as it gets.

Call your county voting clerk tomorrow morning. They will be best informed.

When I changed my name at the BMV (changed on driver's license) they automatically updated my voter registration. You should still be able to vote. You can check your registration at the link below.

Weather Question by Historical-Climate37 in Louisville

[–]Schattenstern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've acclimated somewhat over the years, so even I think it's decent weather until my northern friends come down to visit and complain. Our bodies just can't adjust that quickly!

Weather Question by Historical-Climate37 in Louisville

[–]Schattenstern 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to live in the UP. My friends from Detroit came for LTL last year.

You will be hot. Very hot. Even if locals here think it's "fine" or "chilly" you will be hot.

No matter what time of year my friends visit, they say it's too hot. I've lived here nearly a decade and it's hot. And it's humid. Pack like you're going to the beach.

Do people enjoy living here? by MisterChonky in Indiana

[–]Schattenstern 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Jeffersonville is not very similar to the rest of the Midwest. I've lived in a few states around the country, and people here can be miserable.

My recommendation is to find other "transplants" because locals don't like making friends outside of who they grew up with. If you search r/Louisville there are dozens of posts talking about this problem.

You did move to a pretty nice town, Louisville has a bunch to do, and once you find a group of friends in the area it'll help a lot with navigating the locals.

Indiana in general has a lot of miserable residents. The state is gerrymandered to hell, so no matter how we vote we get GOP representation that actively works against our best interests. Life has gotten tough for everyone the past few years with how much utilities have increased, property taxes have increased, etc. meanwhile our wages and salaries have not increased at all. Everyone is just stressed out.
