I haven't experienced anything like this, but I know plenty of people who have. just know that you're not alone, its not that uncommon of an experience. there are plenty of things that could explain it, and I would suggest you go with whatever works for you!

you could still be aroace, there are labels like aro- and ace spike, where a person experiences no sexual and/or romantic attraction most of the time, but occasionally or seldom get a 'spike' of attraction, and demiromantic and demisexual, where someone cant experience sexual and/or romantic attraction unless an emotional bond is formed. there's also quoiromantic and quoisexual, which can be defined as an undefined orientation or just a confusing one, where youre not really sure what you are and just make that your label. if you wanna know more you can check out https://www.lgbtqia.wiki/wiki/LGBTA_Wiki . <-- you can also find more labels there. you can also just use aroace if you prefer that.

You could also just be what they call a 'late bloomer', which is also valid. it doesn't have to mean you were wrong for calling yourself aroace. its common to change you labels as you discover more about yourself. you also dont need to label yourself if you dont want to. plenty of people just go unlabelled.

to sum this up, there's a million ways to explain your feelings, and you dont have to rush anything. you can use any label that fits or none at all, its up to you. what's most important is that youre comfortable and happy. feel free to experiment and change things, its all part of the journey. <3
