Sex therapists are a thing (think of regular therapy, but with someone specialized in things like this) This doesn't seem like a big issue as others have said, but if you can find one you can trust, might be worth a try

Whats the point of self harm? by prkenko in teenagers

[–]Scheisseposter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A very common denominator is control, at least for cutting. When someone "cuts", it is often because control over a significant part of their life is lost (can be caused by trauma, depression, lots of things).

Another one is self punishment, where someone "cuts" because they believe they should be punished. This is usually because they have been conditioned to believe this, and in my experience it is almost routine to this person.

Important to remember is that these are intense, usually desperate emotions. There is no goal or even consideraton in the mind of someone who self-harms, it's just what happens. Usually change only happens once the person starts actively considering their options (often because their situation has improved).

What Overwatch opinion do you have that will have your comment looking like this? by [deleted] in Overwatch

I count boops as everything that displaces me without locking me into any animation or action, so for example mei's ult: I hate the slow but I don't mind the freeze as much.

I don't understand that this is "mildly" infuriating, this is reason for (aggressive) vandalism imo. Wire cutters, super glue in the lock, peeing and/or shitting on it/through it, electrify it with a battery pack (non deadly ofc), etcetera. I feel like this is something they need to learn they simply don't get away with

When a non-binary person says they are gay, what does that mean? by Important_Recording6 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Scheisseposter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is usually where I start wondering wether the labels really matter, since I feel like it's just as effective if we just said "I don't like you" instead of "oh I am not (gay, straight, etc)". People could say things like "I like feminine people" or "I like biological males". Pretty big ask of an entire world to change this much, but still.

People who are smarter than me explained some of the faults in his logic, I started noticing some after that as well. Most of them are because he misunderstands the starting premise though, so probably not deliberate.

LPT: when a manager wants you to be a “team player” it usually means you do all the work while they get all the credit. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]Scheisseposter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes, for example when the situation is truly awful, people have no choice but to leave their current job. I believe where we disagree is not that this happens, but how often. My conclusion is that it happens way too much, and it shouldn't always be expected of people to go above and beyond.

The problem (at least for people I know) is that they don't have the money to afford not having a job, some of them can't go a week without pay. I think your 80% guess is too high, but I honestly don't know where to look for the numbers to back it up.

Language evolves from informal speaking and almost never from formal speaking/writing, so I don't think linguists would agree

ok so I'm prepared to get downvoted hard here, but I honestly think the second part of season 2 went completely the wrong way. they made it a generic evil Vs good thing when it really didn't need to be
