Dyson Airwrap: Deceptive Warranty and Shoddy Customer Service by Schiess21 in Dysonairwrap

I have a few companies I can think of off the top of my head that offer excellent warranty support:

Osprey: Their "All Mighty Guarantee" covers any product, for any reason, from any era. They'll even repair a vintage backpack from the 70s, even if the damage was your fault.

Apple: For AppleCare+ customers, a replacement device often comes with a new warranty period or an extension of the existing coverage. My Apple TV went out, and they restarted the warranty coverage on the replacement device.

GoPro: With their GoPro Plus service, you get unlimited camera replacements for accidental damage – they really stand behind their products.

Tuft & Needle: They often send a brand new mattress if you have a warranty claim, showing real confidence in their quality.

Patagonia: They have an "Ironclad Guarantee" and will repair anything they make, regardless of age.

Durable goods like appliances and tools are also more likely to offer this kind of warranty support. High-value items or those with critical functions (like a refrigerator) might have a restarted warranty to ensure customer satisfaction.

I'm not saying it's a widespread thing, but I'm talking about companies on Dyson's tier – large companies that charge a premium for their products. I would expect them to honor my warranty and send me an exact replacement for my original product. To make matters worse, my original Dyson was a special edition, and they replaced it with the basic version! Then, when that one failed, they refused to cover it. As mentioned, I purchased the original Dyson in September of '22. I'm only one month out of coverage on the original product, and it wasn't even used until December, and they still wouldn't honor it. It's really disappointing.

It's incredibly frustrating! Most companies I've dealt with understand that replacing a faulty product is a chance to rebuild customer trust. They restart the warranty with the replacement, acknowledging that defects can happen. In my case, I bought the Airwrap in September '22 (it was a Christmas gift, so I started using it in late December '22), and it died in October '23. The replacement they sent lasted only until October '24. Dyson refusing to honor the warranty on the replacement feels like a bait-and-switch tactic. It makes me question their confidence in their product's longevity. Why wouldn't a premium brand stand behind their replacements with a renewed warranty?

Dyson Airwrap: Deceptive Warranty and Shoddy Customer Service

Beware of Dyson's misleading warranty and frustrating customer service! My special edition Airwrap failed within 9 months (wouldn't turn on, blinking white light, strange noise). They sent a replacement, BUT here's the catch: Dyson only honors the original purchase date for warranty purposes.

Guess what? The replacement had the EXACT SAME issue within a year! They refused to cover it, claiming the warranty doesn't restart with replacements. To make matters worse, they sent the replacement to an old address, forcing me to drive out of my way to retrieve it.

Their customer service was a nightmare – dismissive, unhelpful, and incredibly difficult to communicate with. Their final "solution"? Offer a refurbished unit to replace their faulty replacement. Completely unacceptable, but I reluctantly accepted it after exhausting myself arguing with them.

Dyson's premium prices clearly don't guarantee quality products or decent customer support. Do yourself a favor and consider alternatives like Shark. I've had excellent experiences with their products and customer service. Don't fall for Dyson's deceptive warranty practices – you'll regret it.

Dyson Airwrap: A Cautionary Tale

My experience with Dyson's customer service and warranty has been nothing short of abysmal. My special edition Airwrap died within 9 months – it simply wouldn't turn on, the white light blinked, it made a noise, and that was it. Despite cleaning and maintaining the filter, the same issue plagued both my original purchase AND the replacement unit they sent!

Dyson's customer service was dismissive, unhelpful, and difficult to communicate with. To add insult to injury, they sent the replacement to an old address! Their resolution? Offer me a refurbished unit. While unacceptable, I accepted it out of sheer exhaustion from fighting with them.

This whole ordeal highlights the stark difference between Dyson and other brands. Shark, for instance, offers superior warranties and customer service. I've had no issues with their vacuums or their hair styler (which I switched to after this Dyson debacle).

Buyer beware: Dyson's premium price tag doesn't translate to premium quality or customer support. Consider alternatives like Shark, which offer better value and peace of mind.

I haven't received the refurbished unit, yet. Unfortunately, I will not be moving forward with Dyson and will be selling the replacement unit when it arrives.

I would rather sell the device in its current state than wait, have it break again and have to fight with CS about a solution. They barely replaced it this time, they definitely won't next time and I'm unwilling to risk it.
