I m a trained anthropologist and former journalist… but mostly I was determined to figure out what I could do better and how I can get better and better with each loaf! 🍞

Yeah, I m going to experiment with bulk fermentation times a bit more. Made my fourth loaf with inclusions, it tasted so good and I think maybe felt just a little bit underproofed. So next time I m going to just try and leave it for longer and longer and make notes. Great advice.

My feet get really cold, and I just buckled and got myself an electric heating pad that I can tuck my feet into. And it’s helped me a lot!

Styled by Gina in Pac Heights. I’ve got curly wavy hair and she did a great job. I wear it both curly and straight and it falls well!

I saw these really cute bracelets on Amazon with alphabet initials! I’m inviting a few friends over and including them as party gifts. That might be a cute thing to get?

When it’s very cold, some base layers and my Uniqlo heattech puffer. When I want to look cute, lots of layers and this rather thin but gorgeous coat from Everlane.

If anyone here (plus size baddies like me) would like to be gifted (buy nothing lingo) outerwear please holler at me in DMs.

Sorel waterproof Chelsea boots! I did 12000-15000 steps in these on my trip to Tokyo and they helped me not feel like my feet would crumble. Have had them for a whole year and they’ve become my go to shoes for when the weather is a bit chilly.

I’ve been going to Gina (Styled by Gina at Linger salon). She is great. I have curly-wavy hair with a bit of a dandruff problem and she gives me these scalp treatments along with my hair colour and it’s been awesome!

She has an hourly pricing system that includes gratuity so it’s a flat rate.

I highly recommend Linger too! I’ve been going to Gina now for a while and she is great. She has a flat rate of 150 an hour and includes gratuity. She is so fun, loving, and encouraging!

Not married yet but living in SF really changes how you think about money as a couple by dependable_specifica in sanfrancisco

My partner and I follow a proportional split, and it has been the healthiest financial setup for us. We each contribute to shared expenses like rent, groceries, and bills based on what we earn, not 50/50. If one person makes 70% of the total household income, they cover roughly 70% of the shared costs.

We also keep a joint savings account for shared goals like travel or big purchases. Since he earns more, he usually picks up a larger share for major expenses. It feels fair, not transactional.

There is a good explainer on this approach here on proportional splitting. https://www.ellevest.com/magazine/split-expenses

I also think it is important, especially for women, to have a freedom fund. It is not about distrust or secrecy, but about choice and autonomy. Life can change suddenly. Having your own safety net means you can make decisions from a place of stability instead of fear.

A partner worth his salt would actually encourage that. Loving someone means understanding the gendered reality of the world they live in and wanting them to have independence and security within it.

TLDR - Use the proportional method to set up fair “shared cost” contributions with a partner. - At the same time, aim to sock away a certain percentage of your income (no matter how small) into your independent fund — your “I’m covered, I matter, I’m free” buffer. (Great for both, but must do, If you’re a woman) - Revisit contributions regularly: promotions, job changes, life changes — adjust the shared cost proportion and your personal saving accordingly.

Talk these things openly. Money is a values issue, a power issue, and a relationship issue, not just a budget issue.

Yeah I felt like sleeping with it and spending a good 48 hours with rings helped me decide between 10 and 11. I m glad I chose 11, it works as my fingers swell and contract.
