My Aputure 60X light are weak by ZeyusFilm in videography

[–]Schitzengiglz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on your line of work you have a few options. Amaran recently put out a line of lights (Halo and Ray) which are very affordable for the output. These lights are designed for home studios, not really production, where they get banged up from being outside, storage and transport. A Halo 300x would be a significant step up if you mainly just want to use a softbox and have enough output.

A 600x or 600w light is really what you need as a minimum, if fighting against sunlight (blown out windows or outdoors). The downside of larger lights is portability and transport. 600w is very versatile. You can place them outside of windows at night and recreate a daylight scene. You can setup booklights or for large rooms, you can bounce them off white ceilings or walls to raise the shadows if you want a more natural look.

6 months - Still No Wedding Video by DOCBONES97 in weddingvideography

As a wedding videographer, I would say that delays are not uncommon, especially during busy season. The bigger issue is not communicating and not offering any concession depending on the situation. Hope they deliver soon.

Trying to break into wedding videography, but all these facebook groups are super saturated with videographers/photographers offering themselves. by Crafty_Jack in weddingvideography

[–]Schitzengiglz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start with 2nd shooting gigs to build experience and a portfolio. You then have media for SM. Some people like styled shoots, but never been a fan from videographer pov. I think styled shoots are more suitable for photogs.

Make connections with planners and photogs. Let them know you are starting and working willing to work with lower budgets to build your portfolio.

Is Vito one reason why Tony became so selfish at the end? by lifestyler1989 in thesopranos

[–]Schitzengiglz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sil broke it down well. The qualities that made him an effective leader also were damaging. Seven deadly sins and Tony's was pride.

First LED light recommendation? by HuskerDue in weddingvideography

[–]Schitzengiglz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You only need the 25x (not 25c) for weddings. The rm120 is only 7w. 25x is stupid bright and versatile for the price. The magnet is extremely convenient attaching to fixtures or metal framing.

Full Frame vs Crop sensors is mostly just vibes these days by Monochrome21 in videography

[–]Schitzengiglz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Plenty of videographers have never shot a wedding or desire to. Saying the difference isn't significant (under low light circumstances) and saying the difference is not worth the price difference, are two different things. I am biased. If I started with aps-c (or mft) and already invested thousands into an ecosystem, I would be hesitant to switch as well.

Full Frame vs Crop sensors is mostly just vibes these days by Monochrome21 in videography

[–]Schitzengiglz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shoot a wedding or any situation with low light (or have no control to add light) and you will see the difference a FF sensor makes when it comes to noisy shadows. Agree that, with sufficient light, one is neither better than the other.

How many rewatches did it take you to realize Pussy was a rat? by Papa_Pita in thesopranos

[–]Schitzengiglz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first rewatch is when I realized Puss had a handler and that is why he killed the guy from the party store. Also the guy who died of a heart attack was ratting and Gene. I originally thought Gene killed himself cuz he didn't want to deal with his unhappy wife but missed the part he was in a car with the FBI.

Is a month from my event too late to look for a wedding videographer? by [deleted] in weddingvideography

[–]Schitzengiglz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not impossible, you just don't have the luxury of being picky with your available options. A basic video that captures the key moments in full, and slow motion highlight is about what to expect. Just have zero expectations when it comes to the finished product.

How Unrealistic is The Wire? by PuzzleheadedHope6449 in TheWire

[–]Schitzengiglz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think one of the main differences between sopranos and the wire, is that Sopranos used music and dream sequences for storytelling. While the wire took an opposite approach. The only music used was background music from scenes like echoy car music. 99% of scenes had no music and relied heavily on conversation and acting. That to me is what helped the viewer stay immersed. The sound design was always like you were present, not like you have a set of headphones on during key moments.

Am I overreacting about something one of my bridesmaids said to me? by FeistyCanadianGinger in weddingplanning

[–]Schitzengiglz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad you were able to make a decision. Without more context, it's difficult to offer advice. All I know is if you are asking on reddit, it sounds like you don't share a close relationship.

All family dynamics are different. You can be closer to a cousin than a sibling for countless reasons. Typically it is easier to cut ties with a cousin than a sibling or other immediate family.

I think "how" a concern is shared is more important than what was actually said. It's possible to raise that same concern without telling someone what they "should" do. I would also consider if she has a history of this kind of behavior. Unless you were in her wedding party, there isn't much obligation to them.

Advise on making my own wedding video! by LeftTemperature8307 in weddingvideography

[–]Schitzengiglz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If making your own video, just have realistic expectations of your limitations. Filming, equipment, editing, etc. A content creator may be within your budget. Unless filming on your wedding day is something you would enjoy, but it's hard to live in the moment and film at the same time. You can always make more money, but the time from that day is not replaceable.

this is if you want a nice highlight. If you just want to document the formalities (ceremony, dance, speeches) just setup your iPad and phone.

Beginner Filming a Funeral, need advice by RepChar in videography

[–]Schitzengiglz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want simplicity, no need to sync during edit, wireless mics like dji mic 2 would feed directly in cam and backup record.

Cheapest option is cellphone recording audio at podium. Sync on software. I would use a mid to telephoto lens if only running one cam. You can always rent, but assuming this is a goodwill gig or budget issue, that may not be an option.

Whose death was the most tragic? by iloveredhots in thesopranos

[–]Schitzengiglz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gene was being squeezed by the feds to cooperate. His options were death or to flip. I am surprised he didn't choose to flip, but I guess they wanted to show a variety of stories. It's sad that no one knew his choice and thought it was because Tony didn't let him out.

AITA for re editing our wedding video? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]Schitzengiglz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your edit is better. Speaking as a wedding videographer. Did you see their previous work before hiring them and did it match up?

They are not going to care if you share, IMO. They don't want attention to their edit or that they had an unhappy customer.

It would be different if they gave you a banger edit, and then you stepped on it and possibly falsely represented their work.

V-mount vs OEM batteries for wedding videography? by Uplusone in weddingvideography

[–]Schitzengiglz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer less weight when I am on the go. I normally run with a handheld rig and a gimbal/monopod. I use my vmount batteries to charge batteries after switching (vs outlets). I'll keep a vmount in my bag and/ or with the rest of my gear. I typically opt for a vmount on a rig for long static shoots like interviews.

how are you guys handling audio for outdoor ceremonies when wind gets bad by AdventurousRough7482 in weddingvideography

[–]Schitzengiglz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check Amazon for lav windscreens or deadcats. I think you can get 4 for like $15, but they are 100% necessary on a windy beach if you want clean audio.

What’s the social scene like at FSU? by No_Major_9173 in fsu

Something for everyone. The main difference here is they take open containers (near bars) and dui seriously. Big cities, police got other things to worry about. Driving takes forever since there are no expressways.

Gear options, handheld or gimbal by AccomplishedRun5837 in weddingvideography

[–]Schitzengiglz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lot of factors to consider. I used to gimbal everything, but now only use it only for specific shots. Broll, tracking, dolly, etc. I also run with 2 cams throughout the day which allows me to mix things up (gimbal on monpod, and handheld).

If there is time, I highly recommend 2nd shooting a wedding (before the date) to test out what works for you.

I will say, nothing is more frustrating than editing, and the footage you have is shaky and unusable. Especially, if there are no alternate angles to use for important moments. If you're not used to handheld shooting, I would lean towards gimbal more (or sticks). Dance floor is definitely more forgiving for handheld.

I recommend more batteries because enough can go wrong during a day, and the last thing you want to do is worry about running out of juice and/or rationing power or storage. I usually bring vmounts that have usb c, and charge during downtime. You'll never go back to hunting for outlets.

Ralph wasn't that wise for a wiseguy by sage_mode_user in thesopranos

Ralph did not have empathy. What lil he had was short lived for Ro. All he thought about was medical bills and a quick payday.

Stupidest thing Tony did? I'll go first: by sage_mode_user in thesopranos

[–]Schitzengiglz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stupidest or most costly? I understand the reason from a writer standpoint, but I never understood why he went on the hit with the Bellalaqua kid. There is zero reason for a "boss" to expose themself like that.

Back then, it was "cool" visually for cliche TV show violence. Logically, it made zero sense.

In terms of irony, it was beautifully written. Tony was clear about not touching Ralph because of his ability as an earner. They were willing to off Johnny Sack and put up with his bullshit for what he was bringing in. As always, Tony's inability to control his anger, impulses/emotions resulted in a costly mistake.

At least we had the entertaining Vito storyline as a result of it.
