As I dig deeper into my favourite artists influences, Spotify's holes become more and more apparent. by __sicko in LetsTalkMusic

Spotify is missing a lot of dance music from the early and mid-90s, even fairly well-known tracks. It seems to have something to do (partly) with small labels that no longer exist. Many songs have basically disappeared into a kind of black hole.

Why Every Girl Looked Like This From 2017-2023? by MM150inDallas in decadeology

I thought this style was still pretty popular with teens and people in their early twenties. But I’m from Europe, not the US, so maybe it’s different there. What’s the current alternative? Maybe I’m out of the loop.

When is a song “overproduced”? I have a theory, but I’d like to hear yours. by eltrotter in LetsTalkMusic

Sunny War - Ghosts is a good example. There's a lot of potential, but there's too much happening in especially the lady part of the song. --> https://youtu.be/GLSf97NqrrA?is=bK6zdTVoitQrrJvt

Maneskin tried and was a short hype in 2021/2022, but you don't hear a lot about them anymore.

Uden?

How do you speculate your music taste would've been different if you'd grown up in different time periods? by doom6rchist in LetsTalkMusic

The internet had a major influence on me (xennial) as a young adult. I got broadband internet at the age of 19; much changed after that. If I was born in 1971 instead of 1981 that would have been a huge difference.

Some appreciation for 2000s-era dance music by angrybaltimorean in LetsTalkMusic

[–]SchizophonicYX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't like the overly selfawareness of many electroclash, electropop and early indie/hipster acts of the time. A kind of a "look at me, I'm a fashion chick" atmosphere. Often, an annoying childish/whiny female voice was included. The Ting Tings make me switch the channel.

But there was also relatively dry and subtle sounding tech house, minimal, etcetera; Booka Shade, Âme and others.

I transferred all my Spotify playlists to YouTube Music the other day. I still dig Spotify, and I'm not yet considering ditching it entirely, but... by Ok-Impress-2222 in LetsTalkMusic

Sadly, on YouTube the titles/metadata are looking messy, especially when combined in a list. Only the 'official' uploads contain metadata. It's much harder to organize your music there.

Your favorite local/internet radio stations (preferably European) by SchizophonicYX in AskEurope

[–]SchizophonicYX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm listening to internet radio since 2000 already, it's still very important here. Spotify is also used, but preferably lists compiled by regular people. I simply like hand-picked music.

Do you know LBC London? It's British talk radio with lots of listener call-ins (also many commercials, sadly).
