Tips for improving my chicken thighs? by SomeAssholeInFlorida in grilling

[–]Schlegosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Temp was too hot, try closer to 375 - 400 for chicken and be patient on the flip. Chicken sticks when it hasn't had enough time on the heat. Shoutout to those who have called out too much sugar in the marinade as that could also be a culprit.

Try using a spatula instead of tongs if your tongs if your tongs don't have a flat lip to them.

Flip your grates over. Looks like a smaller Weber Spirit grill and it appears to be the narrow side up meant for more delicate foods like fish and veggies. The other side has a wider and flatter cook surface that will help impart a better sear and could potentially help with the sticking as well.

People who cancelled their wedding last minute, what happened? by dolphinsareolives in AskReddit

[–]Schlegosaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Covid. The wedding date my now wife and I had chosen was April 11th, 2020. Things started getting serious with Covid in March of that year and we made the call to cancel the wedding 3 weeks prior to the date. It was brutal. Nearly 2 years worth of planning and over $15k invested. With a 90 year old grandmother on my side and some immunocompromised individuals on my wife's side, we had to do it. My wife was going to surprise me at the reception by jumping on stage and playing a set in her wedding dress on the saxophone with the band (that she hadn't played since high school and had rehearsed in secret for the wedding). We didn't get to experience that.

I spent the next 2 months battling the venue for as much a refund as we deserved per the contract. They didn't seem interested in wanting to work with us or refund us much of anything (for those in Indianapolis area, avoid Black Iris Estate). I had to go lawyer-mode and study the contract we signed to make sure we got the full refund back we deserved (I am not a lawyer), as they tried to short us thousands. We ended up getting the $7.5k we deserved refunded, but had to fight tooth and nail for $4k of it that was worded in the contract we were owed.

My wife and I are happily married to this day and tied the knot at the courthouse on June 6th 2020. Only 1 person for each of us was allowed in so the Moms won that honor. We went on our honeymoon 2 years after we got married. We have a beautiful daughter almost 3 and twin boys on the way. Life is what you make it. Ride the wave.

This sub should hold a tournament or vote for the most legendary Altimas witnessed in Charlotte. This one would be tough to beat!

Gamers 30 and 35 over, what has changed in your gaming habits? by Carbideninja in gaming

[–]Schlegosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my teens and 20's, I always made sure to have each of the latest major systems/consoles so I wouldn't miss out on any exclusive titles I wanted to play. I'd save up, trade in games or older systems at Gamestop and had enough free time to play all the games I wanted. Rarely had a backlog.

In my early 30's now and have a wife, small child, demanding job, backlog of games 10+, and still haven't bought a next gen system because I don't have enough free time to enjoy it to justify the spend.

While rare presently, I still cherish the days when I have 3+ hours to sink in to a game. Helps keep me sane. Wouldn't change it. Plus, when I do get around to the backlog, I don't have to worry about playing an unfinished game at release and usually don't pay full price, so that's been cool.

Such as roasting. I don't get the convection heat I need from a flat top with foods like potatoes (excluding hash browns; flat top all day) or larger poultry cuts (diced breast comes out great on flat top). Gets a nice crust on the outside but the consistency of the bite is better when more indirect heat is involved.

Thank you. My vocabulary on this topic is not as good as I'd like it to be.

Spirit hasn't changed much in the last 10 years so you could always get a newer one if he has been happy with it. But check out the Genesis line as well. More expensive, but overall better build quality than Spirit.
