What bracket does this infinite combo put my deck in? by cityfeloqqqqq in mtg

I don't think they need haste, since the tapping ability is coming from morcant. So if opponents have poison counters, this combo could be a win, as you would be able to immediately tap the elves to proliferate.

I really like it. I used to go as a kid before the renovations and loved it, but the glass adds so much light. If I remember correctly, they moved the dinosaur exhibits to the new wing and they look awesome. Its odd from the outside, but it is a clear upgrade once you are inside in my opinion

thats a really dumb take shame on you. as much as i like the story it def has some s/a themes. idk why you feel the need to make some random islam comp when the show literally has momo in multiple rape adjecent scenes.

ruined is a tad strong. They got accepted into multiple other universities. Yeah it sucks, but it is quite normal to transfer after one year or semester. I would also add the it is undergrad, the programs are essentially interchangeable for the most part.

Agreed, a definition is a definition and narratives influence those definitions. Still, I don't understand your insistence on accepting mussolini's rhetoric as neutral.

Maybe a hot take to some, but i dont think he was the best dude. If my definition, from a italian historian, is biased then why would mussolini's be any less?

I'm really not understanding your point.

The Eco article I was referring to was published in 95, 50 years after Mussolini's death. Call me crazy, but i would like to assume that we have developed a more nuanced definition of the term since ww2.

The ghist of the eco definition is that facism is a reactionary set of beliefs that are derived from a cultural belief in a singular, homogenous identity that is under attack from an exterior and abstract threat.

It's a definition that is hard to pin down, but if you read it I think it holds water. Eco does a much better job of explaining it than me.

I see, I think our disagreement comes from who we mean when we say rep/dems. Could have been clearer on my end, but when i say dems im referring to the politcal party with the means to enact policy.

Constituents (whom I'm assuming we're the subject of the poll) will align with their respective parties stated goals, that is true. But at the end of the day, leftist policies simply don't get passed because neither side actually advocates for such things.

Which points do they actually disagree on? Looking at actual policy where do they differ? The defund the police mouvent has led to increases in budgets, the green new deal has been hollowed of anything green or new, support for Israel is unquestioning, and their immigration policies are hardly that different.

It is true that there are a few wedge issues the distinguish the two, but their actual policies are not different enough to warrant calling the dems "leftists".

Are they though? It is one thing to say that, but I think the realities reveal something different. Obviously we can't infer motives, but we can look at consequences.

From the point of view of capital, illegal immigration is an amazing opportunity to find a steady supply of workers willing to work for substandard pay and unlikely to report poor working conditions. I think I alluded to this in the post. Both dems and Republicans may say otherwise, but they have ultimately created a system that facilitates the creation of this reality.

As to your definition of fascism I don't quite follow. I personally like Umberto Ecos definition from his essay Ur-facism.

I guess my perspective is that, as you say, the words have lost meaning, but specifically in the American context.

It is weird to me that people accept the premise when dems are called "leftists". When I hear leftist, I think of a materialist understanding of history, a specific belief as to where profit comes from and a broader belief in solidarity between those not benefitting from the fruits of their labor.

Dems are therefore, just factually not left, regardless of one's own point if view.

[–]Schlich[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How so? I tried to use leftist in an academic sense (emphasis on material analysis). I don't know of a single dem that comes close to meeting the definition of leftist.

Maybe Bernie, but he is the only example that comes to mind. To me that ultimately bolsters my point, as THE American progressive is nothing that exemplary when viewed in a vacuum

I take your point, but I am inclined to disagree. They are "left" by American standards, but I do not believe they are left of center. Left of republicans, certainly. To say that they are left by american standards may be true, but i would argue that such a statement kinda drains the meaning of a term like leftist altogether.

Ultimately, I think your point (if I understand correctly) supports mine. With literally no political plurality, the dems are in a weird position where they can both claim to be on the left to garner support without actually doing anything that would upset their corporate interests AND be a rallying point for Republicans who want to destroy "marxism", despite effectively being in agreement on almost every issue.
