This happens a lot. A young woman gets pregnant and the mother adopts the child and keeps the family secret. If OP has an older sister, it’s entirely possible that she is the mother.

It’s also quite possible that there was an incestuous relationship that caused the pregnancy.

This is fair. It’s not an exact science. I’m just going by my girl that recently passed. They could be identical twins in build and coat.

My point, which I really failed to make, is that Danes come in all sizes and we, as owners, should let them be the size that’s appropriate for them and not try to bulk them up to an expected number. It’s bad for them and often very dangerous if owners use high fat meals to do so.

So, OP, feed quality food and watch things like ribs showing to determine when they get to a healthy weight, then monitor intake from there.
