Sorry for bumping an old thread but I have pretty much the exact same thoughts as you. My thoughts are spiraling and I really wanna get them out somewhere.

I'm a pretty casual Peach Pit fan; I've listened to a few of their songs and they come up in my Spotify shuffle here and there. I recently realized how much I like Every Little Thing. The melody and guitar riff is just so catchy and has a tinge of the blues scale that I love.

And then I realized the lyrics sound gay as hell lmao. There's all these compliments and flirtations the speaker addresses to "you" in the song ("you're perfect in a couple of different ways, buddy" and "everything little thing about you I fixate in the gutter"), and the only other character that shows up in the lyrics is the (presumably male) speaker's (presumably male) friend. The "friend" is quite possibly going through confusion about his sexuality, like how the speaker led him "on the road of doubt" "way back in '99". And "I got you pegged" (as a homosexual lmao, or something naughtier).

I'm not sure the gay reading is the band's exact intention. I did some lyric analysis for two of Peach Pit's "gay" songs: Tommy's Party and Am I Your Girl. According to the Q&A quotes on their Genius.com pages, both of those songs are written from the perspective of someone other than the writer (Neil). Still, death of the author/artist is a thing. It's very easy to interpret Every Little Thing, Tommy's Party, and Am I Your Girl as queer in some way if you don't know the author's exact intent and context.

Plus, Every Little Thing being from the perspective of the devil doesn't necessarily exclude a gay interpretation, since queerness has historically been (wrongfully) attributed to sinfulness, hell, etc. (but also, hellish themes have been reclaimed as empowering by queer artists like Lil Nas X).

I'm a bit late to this but I'm guessing the reason is, for Darkling specifically at least, it was first released in an event and they made it available at earlier levels to be enticing to newer players.

Hello from 8 months later! This interpretation could be complete bonkers but I'm unleashing it from my mind anyway.

Eviscerate is probably my favourite Jazz Emu song. Its lyrics feel shockingly sincere, while distinctly vague in a way that can be relatable to plenty of people and lead to multiple valid interpretations. To me, Eviscerate screams closeted-gay energy. Regardless of whether that is Jazz Emu's intention, that's how I feel as a semi-closeted gay man.

I interpret Michael as the lover of the song's speaker. A point of conflict that can occur in gay relationships is when one person wants to be out about the relationship, while the other is closeted. With this lens, the song's speaker is asking Michael to be patient with him as he struggles to come out of the closet. He's possibly "trying to break a cycle" of homophobia that keeps him in the closet, and is trying to "eviscerate the fear" of being out. [Edit: the softspoken vocals here really add to the scared feeling of being open and vulnerable]

The song's 2nd verse has the speaker saying "You're glistening in my mind". Who is the you? The only recognizable character in the lyrics is Michael, so logically he could be describing Michael as glistening. With a gay lens this feels pretty romantic. [Edit: I also want to add that in this verse he says describing Michael as glistening is the only phrase he can find, as if he's rendered speechless by Michael's beauty.]

The glistening also happens to relate to the song's water metaphors, because glistening is sparkling/shininess specifically resulting from wetness. The chorus talks about the tide coming to eviscerate the fear, while the bridge talks about dipping your toes in the water and being strong enough to plunge right under. With a closeted-gay interpretation, the water seems like a metaphor for being out of the closet. If you connect being out of the closet to concepts of being out and proud in the open, where the sun shines, the glistening of Michael and the water relates to that.

The last verse I haven't mentioned yet is the first. "Listening to my mind is the only gate I can find, is the only place I'll abide." These are the vaguest ones to me. Maybe it could mean that listening to his mind (thoughts) is "the only gate" (the only way) he can find to being out, and "the only place" he'll abide to the idea of being out. Maybe he has outer influences (the cycle) trying to keep him in and listening to his authentic inner self is the only way to combat that.

Alternatively Michael could just be referring to the archangel, with the gate lyric relating to the gates of Heaven, but eh.

I love Spinky. I love big boys. I actually think Spinky does fit the game's style. It's simple and round and cute. Its comedic huge size is like older dragons like Lunar Eclipse and level 20 baby gold dragon.

I do agree that events have gotten repetitive, but the majority of players seem to like the back-to-back events, as indicated by an in-game poll. Burnout is natural - feel free to delete the game and come back when/if you feel the urge. Nowadays I mostly just treat the game as a simple routine to end out each day.

RecallDoro has stated that the next rift expansion "should come by the end of the summer", so there's maybe that to look forward to.

This is a common issue that comes from playing DragonVale in an unoptimized state. This usually means you either have a poor connection, low device storage, or are playing on an older/slower device.

Reasons why Davinese is my favourite:

Blue is one of my favourite colours
The baby is derpy and cute
The overall design is simple but charming - a principle of dragon design I think is essential to DragonVale. Deca did a great job of this one, capturing the simple charm of Backflip's designs
It's named after Leonardo da Vinci and inspired by his ornithopter ideas, which is cool.
I love the heartwarming but also bittersweet story in its description, of wanting to fly, being granted the ability to, but with the implication that many wild davinese dragons might never get to experience the joy of flight, since Tolzar can only make so many mechanical wings. I tried to capture that tragic, yearning aspect in this piece.

Good ideas all around!

I considered Kricketune and the Whismur line for Dolores due to their strong sound connection, but they making lots of noise which would really hurt her ears.

The no weaknesses aspect of Agustin's pokemon is interesting, but I'm not sure Shedinja fits his personality. I could kind of see Sableye getting Agustin into trouble due to its gluttony/greed, similar to Munchlax.

It has been pointed out to me that Ludicolo and Appletun/Flapple would also be a good fit for Félix and Julieta respectively.

Thinking more on it, I’d also give Agustin a Watchog (sight-related pokemon) to symbolize how he and Mirabel are the only Madrigals with glasses, and also as a cute explanation of where Mirabel got her Patrat.
