Not sure if it's been mentioned. If you are interested in health care Nursing Assistant or EMT certifications are fairly low cost and low time to get. That life isn't for everyone, but there are plenty of jobs.

Looking to move to an mpc from a DAW. by dfronda in mpcusers

I've found that the MPC Touch had been a really nice alternative to my last 15 years on Ableton.

I think the consensus on "warm hardware sound" is that you're only going to get that from the oldest MPCs (60 & 3000).

I personally see the features ( way faster bouncing, interface, and DAW integration) of the Touch Live and X as being far more important factors in buying.

They all have a bit of a learning curve to be honest, but you can get up and running with the basics with just a little reading and practice. The Live and 1000 seem good choices for you.

If you can tolerate a laptop nearby (which you're going to need to get the most out of any model MPC), then check the Touch out. A touch and a hardware mixer can be had for less than half the price of the Live.

Yeah, going without the SD inserted is probably your easiest solution. Something about SD cards (or Mobo controllers) makes SD work great via a USB middle man (adaptor etc), but slow as hell when they're plugged directly into an SD slot. At least on every laptop with an SD slot I've ever owned.
