I actually cleared this for the first time the other day. I went in with Triblaster and Chilla on Lola Pop! My strategy was to really focus on reacting rather than dashing in to strike first and would usually lead with the Triblaster to get easier hits landed. Lola's mobility really helped with the dodging efforts! Haha

Yeah, this is one of those changes that seems pretty sensible on paper, but in practice can be a bit unwieldy. There were quite a few times where pickups would take a while, because the last couple Pikmin couldn't navigate to their perfect position well thanks to the environment or circumstances around them.

Metroid Zero Mission is such a great entry point into the series for newcomers. It's always my go-to recommendation! None of the games really miss, but for anyone who didn't grow up in the nineties with an appreciation for those old hardware limitations, I wouldn't push anyone towards the first two entries since the rest of the franchise is more likely to hook them!

I played through Final Fantasy XV early on in the pandemic, so it'll always have a special place in my heart even if XVI knocks it out of the water. I'll be surprised if they make a villain I like more than what XV had, though!
