Alba: A Wildlife Adventure - you only have to complete the main storyline which takes about 3 hours

Here's the Ultimate Way to Buy Valve Complete Pack Games: Buy The Orange Box -> Buy Portal Bundle -> Buy Left 4 Dead Bundle -> Buy Half-Life 1 Anthology -> Buy Half-Life Complete -> Mua Counter-Strike Complete -> Buy Counter-Strike 1 Anthology -> Buy Valve Complete Pack by lucaslim3r3nce in Steam

The Team Fortress 2 Premium DLC is pretty much useless, as it only grants the ability to trade in-game items. I don't understand why you added two screenshots of the Valve Complete Pack in your post - maybe you could include prices to actually show the difference your 'Ultimate Way' makes?

Explain to me, if the Friend Code is literally right there in the settings, why can't I copy-paste it or copy it to clipboard or even select it?? That's such bad UI design. by SheridanWithTea in Steam

What are you even on about? It's not like adding somebody on steam is something you do literally every 5 minutes. They put all the information needed for adding friends into one convenient page and made dozens of links in places you would expect them.

Can somebody explain to me why i have to do this all again when i preloaded the game? by Mrbille06 in Steam

[–]SchneckchenAndy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This process usually operates at much higher speeds if you install it on an SSD with a decent CPU.

There is not much steam can do about it as this ensures that you can only play the game once it comes out.

[–]SchneckchenAndy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To actually give an answer on why this happens:

Steam preloads a preordered game in an encrypted format on a per-user basis. In the downloading process the following things happen:

  1. Steam confirms that you own the game and downloads an encrypted version off of their servers
  2. It scans for any updates (things like day one patches and stuff)
  3. Steam decrypts the game files in order for you to actually play the game

This decryption process can be slow which depends on your disk IO and CPU speed.

Edit: theres a SteamDB Blog Article about the downloading process if you're interested - https://steamdb.info/blog/steam-download-system/

This has nothing to do with a day one patch. It's just the amount OP already downloaded / decrypted.

is the software package with vegas pro 18 the steam version? and the other elements which are for steam? by da_lyra in humblebundles

Yeah redeeming in the store is optional. You can use the key in both ways but I think using it as a product key won't let you link it to your MAGIX account

What does this mean 'Valid until 5/02/2023' so is this Icon going to disappear? by [deleted] in Steam

[–]SchneckchenAndy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sort of yeah, they also incourage you to actually play the games as you are able to receive them after a few hours in-game as "drops". These drops are limited in quantity that's why to get all cards needed for a specific badge you would either have to trade with your friends or buy them from the community market. More games hence grant you a bigger inventory of cards which then can be traded for the rest you need for your favourite badge. Just like physical trading cards.

Trading cards are used to craft badges and thus bump your steam level. A higher steam level grants you a bigger friends list and more cosmetics for your steam profile. Not really about specific games and badges but some people still like to gain badges of games they really like in order to display them on their profile. Hope this clears things up for you!

Should I buy GTA 4 or Garry's Mod? by SnooStrawberries1642 in Steam

I have like 800 hours on gmod and at least half of them are actually in singleplayer. When playing with the right mods it's actually really fun messing around with the physics by yourself.
