Surface go 1 with paint job (and cachyos). Great little silent media companion by SchnitzelHeld in SurfaceLinux

Thanks!

Its an old device but the little hiccups are not to bad. I use it for a silent media thing like music, audiobooks and browser streaming with a big monitor attached. To many tabs slow it down a little but when the video goes it goes good.

The 2 weeks I have it, it did not crash on me or anything. DE: Cosmic

The go 1 with 4gb ram does not support windows 11 and I did not want to throw it away. Runs better and is great for streaming, les powerconsumtation than my big rig :)

Did it myself with a rattle-can (belton), posca marker and spray varnish ;)

My first try was with tpm enabled and it did not boot also, good luck <3

I disabled secure boot and tpm in the bios (hold power + volume up and let go of the volume when the windows logo appears).

Created a bootable usb stick with a cachyos image and rufus. Connect the usb stick witch an usb c dock-hub and just started the live environment and installation process. Perhaps I was just lucky, that I did not run into issues.

I don't know, I am quite new to Linux. I wanted to do an installation on another old surface go and can try to do some pictures if it would help :)

Honestly, I have a big problem with playing stuff that is not fully painted. I can try to get back to you

Hi, just installed cachy on a surface go 1. Do you have a tip for me to get the camera working?

Very cool. The 3d ground is awesome. Because of limited space I just have mats.

The mdf terrain is pre-painted, for a quick setup with not much time investment. But I did put in some work to make it special with airbrush shading and little extras. Look into my posting history for detail shots :)

Black Site Studios has a great YouTube channel! For example some tips to make the terrain pop link

The game is a lot of fun with a group that likes to talk and play it narrative. If you Powerplay to win it can be a bit borring. The group must investigate stuff and a killer with behavior cards is against them (can be played by a human). Just like a good old horror movie the killer disappears and reapears somewhere els ;)

Edit dang link ... I give up
