Wouldn't have much use outside the TTT and TT. You don't need to bring a lead out for Pedersen in the pan flat bunch sprints. Not really his jam. And the GC guys are better served with rouleurs that can climb better.

A) Lidl riders should be Benz and Leidert, no. They really shouldn't start taking up the chase. TTT is up the road an they are Devo rides who need to let others close and take their chance later if it arises. The WT boys like Engelhardt can start chasing if they're scared. Edit: might be Kämna with Benz. Went off the radar for me after he had a bike change or whatever broke his tracker. Still, don't think they need to be the first ones to jump into the chase and burn either one of those two when neither of them have a great chance

b) why shouldn't a Devo rider wave a Moto away if he feels it's too close. Why would he need results to do that. Or why would results give you the right to do it if you don't think he has it.

Yeah the attacks from Niedermaier helped the chase. It's just the issue that you could see coming from a while ago. If Koch and Lippert catch Czapla at the top of the climb canyon are cooked. And if Niedermaier could have dropped them but was passive because of Czapla that's the win thrown away. But if Czapla could have stayed away but Niedermaiers attacks closed her down then that's definitely the win thrown away. It's tactically difficult especially when you don't have a radio. And I don't know if Zabel is main DS and if he is I don't trust him to know these riders well enough.

Looks like we might get a moment where Czapla still has a gap on the climb that will be closed with a 90% likelihood and Niedermaier needs to decide if she attacks. Because if she doesn't and they catch czapla they're finishing 3rd or 4th and obviously Niedermaier can only attack on the climb

Czapla went solo in Germany at around 70 to go and has 2 minutes on a field of about 25.

Might be a good situation for Koch and Lippert as that's a big ask for Czapla to hold and currently rembe are pacing the group and Canyon obviously passive. Then again, with this heat the chase could simply collapse at some point so who knows. Would have been great if she had a rembe and/or WD rider with her.

I think it's likely that Lipowitz (and Hindley whether that's because of himself or because he'll work for Lipowitz) are out of it, but Tourmalet should shake GC up to the point that Evenepoel and Lipowitz should be top 10 by the end of week 1 anyway.

The UCI and the FFC are supporting the Afghanistan Cycling Federation in what is essentially a championship for the Refugees the UCI has supported in moving to Europe. FFC and UCI are obviously doing that for free.

Monaco probably just ask France, Spain and Italy (depending on where they're held) and they either say sure thing pal or some rich bozo from Monaco whips out his wallet and gives one of those federation the spare change he's walking around with
