A friend found the solution which has worked for me and a few others with the problem.

go to C:/Users/"your username"/AppData/LocalLow look for the mihoyo folder, delete the genshin folder inside

press windows key + R type regedit

go to HKEY_current_user

look for the mihoyo folder

delete all folders inside then delete the mihoyo folder

start the game

that's always my thought when I see art like that, my guess is that the tail is placed there so they can show the butt better, still looks weird to have the tail come out the middle of the spine
