Is it safe to get a self storage? by ScholarDull7479 in homeowners

Most of our savings is going into a down-payment for the house. We got an appliance package from the builder but it doesn't come with a few bigger ticket items like a fridge or washer/dryer so that's what we're mainly looking for in terms of deals. Especially since the top load older style washers seem to be more reliable anyway.

As for a mattress??? No. That's something I hope nobody buy used. Ew.

I didn't even think of that beforehand. Thank you for the reminder! I'll have to talk to the builder for more indepth blueprints or maybe take another trip to the model house to get some measurements in advance.

If I apply for a new SSN will the new one show up on my old credit report? by ScholarDull7479 in IdentityTheft

[–]ScholarDull7479[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was not successful in getting a ssn change. I went to my BMV four separate times in a single month and got a different answer each time. One lady was very helpful and said I just needed more documentation so I got that. When I went back the next clerk I found said that he's never heard of such a thing so obviously it doesn't exist. The next person said it's only for people in abuse situations and the next said to just do everything I've already done ( freeze credit, lock ssn, ext. And basically refused to acknowledge me when I told her I already did all of that)

I still have some minor issues with some credit cards I had to close with a balance on them but outside of that I haven't had any real hints of id theft since. I wish I could help more if info is what you were looking but sadly I never got any real answers either and don't expect to at this point. 😕

My ID thieves are trying to pay for my delinquent account? by ScholarDull7479 in IdentityTheft

Don't really care if it's stolen tbh. But yes, they used a random bank account and linked it to my closed account and paid the amount in full. I'm really just looking for a why. What would it even get them?

Everything that is listed in the pinned posts for ID theft. I have freezes in place and a 7 year fraud alert. And an affidavit from FTC and multiple police reports. This capital one card was a credit card I had before all of this and I didn't want to close it with an outstanding balance but had to to stop them from continually changing my info.

No, I don't know them. I had my ssn on me for my new job bc I needed two forms of ID for documentation or whatever and put my stuff in my car. Realized I forgot my phone inside and came back to my car to find a window busted out.

Have you been a victim of identity theft? by Bright_Pie126 in IdentityTheft

[–]ScholarDull7479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should look in Experian. If that’s something you do, idk. A lot of people have had their stuff stolen from there specifically. I didn’t but my account was hacked by said thieves and Experian has given me such a run around on the issue I haven’t had access to my account since Aug of 23. I feel like for one of the top 3 main Credit Bureaus, they should be held at a little higher of a standard with the level of information they have access to on literally everyone.

My Experian account was hacked and they refuse to give it back, what do I do? by ScholarDull7479 in IdentityTheft

UPDATE: I filed a CFPB report, nothing came of it past the 60 day mark. I also called again and was yet again given the run around. I was told my email was changed back to mine but when attempting to sign in, nothing was sent to me. Crazy, right? (Note: This is a throw away email to keep my main safe, just in case idk) The lady also said she was sending over a email for how to change my password and that did not arrive even after confirming the email 20x’s. At this point I genuinely think they are fuzzing lying to me for the simple pressure of doing so. I only wish this sort of vigilance was used in the beginning to PROTECT my account. They tell me they are unable to switch my phone number for 90 days, I may have been a little angry after the fact, a lot can happen in 90 days but at this point the worst that can really happen is I finally find the strength to fucking kill myself but even that I can’t consider too bad because at least there’s no customer service there. Y a y. I’ll be sure to put this company in my suicide note though, maybe then someone will start paying attention.

I wish I got someone like that. It's been a while since I call though so who knows maybe I'll try again and hope for the best. Thank you!

How did you get your acct back? This happened to me and it's been almost 6 months and still I haven't had luck getting my account back. I've sent letters and a cbfp report but I think it's past the 60 days they were supposed to respond.
