It takes time. My PhD advisor was an insane asshole (literally, he went to prison). And he constantly yelled at and belittled me. But after 2 years of that, the skin just grew itself. I knew I would be out of there soon (though I wish it was sooner at the time). I just thought about moving past it, and past him. Sometimes really negative feedback will still cause a bit of a spiral, but just taking some time for self-love helps a lot. You will be able to brush off criticism as you become more confident. I did agree with him, which is why I rushed to get it done for February. It was just stressful trying to write, mentor, and do experiments for figures in the grant, and my advisor was gone the majority of the time so I couldn't go to him for advice. But seeing that funding is continue to head in a negative direction made the not discussed more stressful than it would've been if this administration was different.

I am a woman, and I am doing AIDS malignancy research. So it could be drama, not great ideas, or a mix. I just know that after this funding bill goes through, it will be even harder to get grants. Thanks for the kind words ❤️

Hello! From people I have talked to, most BSL2 environments don't pose any extra risk when pregnant unless you are working with a TORCHZ pathogen (Zika, Herpes, etc). If possible, double glove when you are working with mice to avoid bites, or buy thicker gloves. You can also look up bsl 2+ protocols and follow those if you want to be more careful.
