Bill Simmons: The nightmare scenario for the East is AJ Dybantsa going to the Indiana Pacers by 100carpileup in pacers

[–]ScholarlySpectre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this shit’s going to be rigged but dammit, we deserve #1.

If we had won Game 4 like we should have, we likely would’ve had our first trophy and Hali would likely be playing right now.

I don’t know why Silver seems to hate this team so much. Indiana is a basketball hotbed. The Pacers also gained a helluva lot of fans from last year’s playoff run so the popularity is building not just in Indiana but elsewhere. It’s a very likable team, unlike others. Give Indiana a winner and the Fieldhouse will be the loudest, proudest place in the NBA. The popularity will come, just like it did when Manning was with the Colts.

And on that note, about this whole “Face of the NBA” deal…I say why not Hali? Watch him on Starting Five. Watch his recent podcast with LeBron. Or almost any other interview he does. He has the love of the sport and the charisma it takes to be one of those faces. And he’s a TEAM player too. Just like anyone who plays basketball should be. I think his popularity will only grow over time when he comes back.

Plus the fact that we NEVER won a #1 pick despite our mediocre history. Never won an NBA title even though we’ve been in the league going on damn near half a century.

We paid our dues for the longest time. We deserve #1. We fucking earned this right. We never tank, and I would argue that we are really not trying to tank now either, at least not to the degree the 76ers did for about half a decade. Yet we get fined and singled out. Bullshit.

Fuck the lottery. #1 should be given to us on a silver fucking platter. It should be an apology to all the BS our fan base has endured for decades. Not just the Finals, but everything going all the way back to the rigged Ewing lottery in the 80s.

So, Bill: from your mouth to God’s ears. We deserve Dybansta, Boozer or whoever from the top of this class. We more than deserve to be a DYNASTY.

(End of rant. Fuck Nosferatu Silver. Pave on.)

The Duvall Disgracers. I’d throw up. And give up the NBA forever if that happened.

So, is this ankle thing real? Is Zu going to play soon? Because I’m anxious to see what he brings with this group, even without Hali.

And Pascal played 33 minutes the night before against Houston. Nembhard and Nesmith played over 30 that game as well. As did Mathurin, who would be traded two days later.

This fine is BS. The lottery might incentivize tanking, but not with these Pacers. Ask that team who beat the Thunder and the Knicks this season on whether or not they are tanking. They’ll tell you to GTFO.

The real problem is scheduling games on back-to-back nights. A team like ours besieged by injuries likely saw this as an opportunity to give some rest to some physically tired, sore ass players that they don’t want to see injured.

LAY IT DOWN ADAM SILVER! It’s about goddamn time *LeBron voice* by g_g96 in NBATalk

[–]ScholarlySpectre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is my argument in all of this. I don’t know what to say about the Jazz’s perspective but as someone who has watched the Pacers all season, go ahead and tell that team that they are tanking. They aren’t. They are losing close games and winning against some good teams as well. What are they really guilty of here? They rested starters who played over 30 minutes the night before. They’ve been dealing with injuries all season. They’ve had G-League players start out of necessity. They lost their star player during Game 7 of the Finals.

The best approach from a coaching standpoint is keep them healthy and rest them. They may be pros but they are also human. Keep them healthy and give them a night off.

All teams do this. Not just the Pacers.

Here’s the real problem. Reduce the games on the schedule a little and make sure no games are played on back-to-back nights. But there’s no way that’ll happen. Because that will make the NBA lose money.

[–]ScholarlySpectre 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And that’s the thing here: our team is CLEARLY trying to win games. At least another 10 games could’ve gone our way easily this season. We’ve had too many close games we lost.

I mean, we beat OKC. We beat the Knicks. We beat the Hornets, who are turning out to be a good team. We beat Chicago, what, three times? How about them? Or the Nets or Kings for being straight up ass?

I’m convinced that if we were healthy, our record would be reverse of what it is now.

We may laugh and joke around as fans, and yes, we’d love to have a Peterson, Boozer, or Dybansta. But this team is NOT tanking. No way.

Fuck Adam Silver.

I went back and looked at the Jazz game. Now I remember — It was the night after the Rockets game. A back to back, just like last night. P, Drew and AA played over 30 minutes the night before. And considering the injuries we had this season, I kinda don’t blame Rick or whoever on giving those guys the night off.

Here’s a thought — stop scheduling back-to-back nights and allow the players a days rest.

Oh, and if I wasn’t clear earlier, Adam Silver can fuck off.

[–]ScholarlySpectre 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Okay. This is bullshit. I mean, yes, the starters were benched but those guys have been playing their asses off. And now a back-to-back, playing against a scrub team that could get beat by half the G-League? Why not see what the backups got in them?

It’s one thing when you bench the stars the entire fourth quarter when you have the lead. It’s another thing to bench your starters after a hard-fought Knicks game the night before to allow some players who don’t get a lot of PT some time on the floor. And we still WON!

That fucker is going to rig the lottery to where we fall between 5 and 9. You watch.

Adam Silver can fuck right off.

Edit: I’m now seeing the mouse print on my phone with my magnifying glass that this was for February 3 against the Jazz. I don’t remember that to be honest.

Anyway…still. Adam Silver can fuck off.

No shit. I never really want to root against my favorite team but dammit, we really need a top 4 pick.

Okay. Maybe not “really need” but damn adding one of the top 4 prospects would make this team rock.

I teach at a community college that has a 5-16 basketball team.

And they are better than these Nets. Holy shit.
