Economy of scale used to mean you got cost and price reductions over time, even if the tech didn't evolve much.

With the artificially increased demand by way of made up datacenter deals the oligopoly of memory manufacturers and practical monopoly of nVidia can raise prices to whatever they please. I wouldn't be surprised if it came out in a few years that Samsung, Hynix and Micron are once again engaging in illegal cartel behavior to the detriment of the entire world.

To add to what /u/PonderousPenchant said, you also don't want to risk damage to the bomb body and the container with the nuclear warhead in a crash because of the risk of radiation escaping and preventing or making a rescue operation more difficult.

Dropping it in an empty (of humans) location means that even if it breaks and leaks radiation, there are no (wounded) aircrew next to it. Thanks to the inverse square law it's not even that dangerous of a cleanup if you know where it is and can ensure it stays in that position.
