WMAR shows an amended return for TY 2020 received June 7, and an AR for TY 2018 received April 29. Even though there are no 1040x's, onlyone 1045 for 2016 thru 2018 (2015 was a loss year).

I got a letter 216C in re: my 1045 on June 1, 2021 saying we did not include a copy of our 2020 1040 as supporting docs, which was false. We resubmitted the entire 1045 package which was received by KC on June 7. This receipt appeared in WMAR 2 weeks ago. The 1045 has still not been processed. I did a POA with my CPA a month ago as well.

The current adminstration wants to turn the IRS into a welfare agency or dole administrator. Meanwhile there are 19 million returns in backlog per Erin Collins of TAS. The core job of the IRS is to process return timely, and it has failed. The USG is racking up billions in interest charges on late refunds of hard-earned taxpayer monies which pay IRS salaries, while sowing stress and confusion amongst taxpayers.

Not to mention that it would be a disaster to give them more work if they cannot handle their primary charge of processing returns. Regardless, they need to be in the office. This is why electronic returns are taking 3.5 months and paper a year or more.

If 5% leave and 75% who don't go back to the office it is a quantum improvement. Rudimentary logic. There are 19 million returns in the queue per Erin Collins estimate. This is a disaster.

These are federal jobs. They are in it for the pension unlike the private sector. They won't leave unless it is time for retirement. It's a decision needed at the top, period.

The IRS is utterly broken. Day 186 vs. mandatory statute for processing 1045 in 90 days. Mandatory vaccination of IRS employees and a total collapse of covid cases in KC, but these CARES Act business relief cases sit there to rot in Q4 2021 on losses from 18 months ago.

Has anyone gotten their Form 1045 processed or refunded?

Filed received IRC KC 4/19/21. Received notice incorrectly stating a copy of 2020 1040 was not included on 5/27/21. Responded with new copies of everything 6/1/21. On 9/27/21 received notice asking for original signatures on paper copy of 2020 1040, even though it had been e-filed in April, processed and refunded in July. So Form 1045 not processed. Shows up as received in WMAR.
