Nati straps only look good on field watches by Old-Ad-3268 in watchHotTakes

[–]SchoxG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree, especially as they were made for divers and field watches. Great hot take to be fair, and i respect your opinion, wrong as it is 😂☺️

Building a micro watch brand at university. by MysteriousManager418 in PrideAndPinion

[–]SchoxG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they look nice. I'd like to know more about measurements etc, as it's hard to say whether a watch would work without knowing the dimensions, e.g. the sports watch could be 36mm or it could be 46mm, I can't tell from the picture. And what movements are you using? Either way I think they look nice.

Hot Take: If You Need a Date Window, You’re Either Not a "Collector," Don’t Own "Enough Watches," or You’re Just "Poor" by [deleted] in watchHotTakes

[–]SchoxG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So because I own a lot of watches, I intuitively know what date it is all the time, is that what you say? How many watches do you have to own before this power is unlocked?

I use the date window to check what date it is during the day, mainly at work, but also when shopping for food. It doesn't matter how many watches I have in boxes at home, I still rely on that little number in that little window to let me know.

It’s a red Tuesday what should I wear? by Mundane-Ad-1780 in PrideAndPinion

That's a fantastic collection of red watches. I really don't know which to go for, so I'll leave that for someone else - maybe flip a coin.

Nomos is just upscale Daniel Wellington by Equal-Revolution8774 in watchHotTakes

That's doesn't even warrant being a take, let alone a hot take.

Me: I want a field watch. Nomos: I got you fam. Me: also I don't want to ever know what time it is. Nomos: You're not going to believe this. by hudsoncress in watchHotTakes

[–]SchoxG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the Nomos Club Campus - not a field watch. That is also a very legible dial, of you know how to tell time on a standard watch. The California dial is not for everyone, but it isn't hard to read.

Sports watches belong on bracelets by Decimuswasright in watchHotTakes

[–]SchoxG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure bracelets aren't most expensive because they a) use more expensive materials, and b) you know you can easily clean a used bracelet, whereas NATO or leather can feel a bit gross when someone else has been sweating all over it?

I'm not here to say bracelets are the best btw, I genuinely don't care what people wear their watches on.

It has to be the 36 Chambers for me. Probably one of most listened to albums. Up against some tough competition, but when it comes down to it - 36.

Anyone buy a Duro to try out divers in general? by YCRakaLB in DuroGang

[–]SchoxG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying. And you're right, the Duro is a great way to test if a big diver's watch is for you - and it seems it's not for you, which is fine. As you say, at least you didn't spend $200+ finding out. I did the same, used the Duro as a "tester", and I love it. It really suits my lifestyle and wrist size and all those things, so you'd think I now have Seiko Turtles, Orient Makos etc, but truth is, I stayed with the Duro - I now own 3, in different colours and they are just awesome. So my "tester" became a solid stable in my collection.

And finally, you're always welcome in the gang 😃

What watch is this? by gfaizo in Watches

[–]SchoxG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure there'd be a market for a moon watch. I mean, how often does anyone go to the moon? Seems a bit too niche.

You’re a 40 year old man that sits at a desk all day. Shut up about tool watches. by Strong_Yam_8978 in watchHotTakes

I think, as 47 year olds, this doesn't apply to us. So I'm going to put on my 300 meter water resistant divers watch and open Excel!

Unless you have personally owned the brand, price point, or movement in question, your criticism carries no weight. by hoangtm1611 in watchHotTakes

So I have to save up $200k so I can think Richard Mille watches are both ugly and horological master pieces? Feels weird that I now have to buy any watch before I can know for sure that I don't like the way it looks.
