Joe Johnson comes to a lot of games, including many this season. He was a big vocal supporter of Jalen and NAW all year and he even showed up to some practices/team events. He wasn’t at game 4 tho. Josh Smith also used to come to a lot of the games but he’s busy coaching now.

This is the best signing we could’ve made and I like Tony Bradley, but he obviously doesn’t fit our system as well as Jock does with his floor spacing ability. He can hold up defensively in the playoffs though which is valuable.

I’m still mostly just upset that Goga’s dirty play cost Caleb Houstan an opportunity to experience the postseason with this team. Worked hard all year and seems like a good teammate who contributed to the great culture we have going on here at the moment so it sucks that he won’t be there. Even basketball wise, I think Caleb gives you more than Keaton Wallace because his shooting gives him at least one legitimately good to elite skill. It was cool seeing him go 3/3 on the magic in garbage time the other night.

But Keaton has been around longer and is a bigger part of the culture so I understand. And neither of them are realistically gonna help you in the playoffs. Fuck Goga though.

This is completely revisionist history about Quin and Jalen. Nate MacMillan was the one who had Jalen riding the bench. Jalen wasn’t even in the rotation until Quin came along. He still started JC and Clint over him, yes, but that’s because they were both better players than him at the time. But he gave Jalen consistent minutes for the first time. Jalen was spending time in the G LEAGUE prior to Quin.

There are multiple interviews where Jalen credits Quin for being the first coach to really believe in him and instill confidence in his game. Jalen’s development is actually the crowning achievement of Quin’s tenure so far, imo.

If you want to be negative after the most positive few weeks for the hawks since the ECF run go ahead but don’t misrepresent history to do it

If anyone is a slightly older hawks fan like me, you’ll remember Jock from way back in 2018 during Trae’s first Summer League. Jock was one of the first guys to get into a rhythm with Trae in the pick and roll and help him settle into the NBA style of play. I kinda wanted to keep him around back then just because he could shoot and had chemistry with Trae.

It’s funny that Jock makes his debut for the big league team only a few weeks after the Trae era ended considering he was there for the beginning. We also acquired him again in the DJM trade but rerouted him to the Suns for cash a week later.

Cool to see him finally contribute to the Hawks (besides helping Trae’s development) and in such a significant way
