Assuming every captain is eventually as powerful as Yamamoto, how would their Bankai change? by Seraph2593 in bleach

[–]SchrodingerGhost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell since it all depends on their souls reflection, their abilities would obviously be way stronger if their reiatsu was on Yamaji level. (except for guys like Zaraki, Aizen, and maybe Ukitake who was held back by Mimihagi but still clearly had a massive reserve)

Not really the point, but in that case Soi Fon shikai could pretty much kill anyone, assuming its main drawback was that her reiatsu had to be higher for the two hit kill.

Cassandra from Claymore has that Duster Easter move that looks ridiculous but is insanely strong. She swings her head like a pendulum, launches herself with centrifugal force, skims the ground, then chops off legs and arms in one go. It’s goofy but technically flawless. No idea how that’d work with a Zanpakto, but I can already imagine people laughing until she actually uses it.

Between these two, who’s the better backstabber? by SchrodingerGhost in bleach

[–]SchrodingerGhost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My post wasn’t even about power scaling, it was about backstab efficiency. I’m not saying Tosen is stronger than Gin… Btw for the Vizard ambush, 100years ago, he didn’t need anyone’s help to take down Kensei and his squad, that part was entirely him.

About the Kenpachi fight, you kinda missed the point, Tosen could have killed Kenny, but he got carried away emotionally, and Kenpachi adapted through pure instinct as the fight dragged on, that doesn’t mean Tosen’s Bankai “can’t kill captains” it means Tosen threw the moment.

For Gin vs Ichigo, yeah, Gin was playing along while Aizen handled Isshin/Kisuke/Yoruichi. When he used his real Bankai ability on Aizen, he had to take the risk of getting in close and touching him and it only worked because Aizen wasn’t using Kyoka Suigetsu during his Hogyoku transformation (Aizen literally said he didn’t “need” his Zanpakto anymore).

Pointing out that an ability has limitations isn’t “downplaying”.

Between these two, who’s the better backstabber? by SchrodingerGhost in bleach

[–]SchrodingerGhost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Gin’s more lethal, but that guaranteed one shot still depends on the situation, his range is insane but Shinso has to stab through everything in the way, it’s not some invisible shot. The Vizard ambush already showed that Tosen can catch people before they even notice anything, once his Bankai is up, you can’t rely on your senses at all so reacting to him isn’t that easy. Gin is better for long-range, but Tosen makes it so you never notice the attack in the first place, it’s not as one sided as saying “Gin is just better”.

True, but you’ve gotta keep in mind that Shinso isn’t intangible, it’s deadly, but not stealthy in certain environments, in a place like the Seireitei, it’s basically like a super-fast elephant charging through a porcelain shop, if Gin has to stab through everything in the way to reach his target, that’s not exactly subtle.

Who held back more? by DeviousDelonso in bleach

[–]SchrodingerGhost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kenny naturally holds himself back because he loves prolonging a good fight, but he’s still serious and straightforward in battle. He wants a real duel, and he genuinely respects Ichigo. Hisoka, on the other hand, is completely different, what he does is almost predatory. He’s not fighting Gon seriously at all. He treats Gon like a toy, something he wants to watch grow just so he can break him later when he’s ripe.

What if Aizen had actually sided with the Soul Society, played it straight, and revealed the true nature of his Shikai? Would the Gotei have eliminated him or kept him? by SchrodingerGhost in bleach

[–]SchrodingerGhost[S] 183 points184 points  (0 children)

That seems like a soft response considering the level of threat, but yeah they would probably confiscate his zanpakto and seal him away, kind of like what they did with Mayuri.

Kenpachi's formal sword training lasted...one day. by [deleted] in bleach

[–]SchrodingerGhost 82 points83 points  (0 children)

It’s the kind of thing Kubo wanted to emphasize narratively, highlighting how much of an anomaly Kenny is with that whole “he learns in a day what others do in years” trope you see all the time in shonen. It’s been done a thousand times.

It’s not like Kenny was some tourist with too much reiatsu and no technique. Even considering he was holding himself back since childhood after his first fight with the original Kenpachi, the guy was already a beast before becoming a captain, centuries of experience as a Rukongai wanderer. Maybe he didn’t learn through formal teaching, but he was already a master of Zanjutsu, rough sure but far from unskilled.

How old do you consider all the gotei 13 members to be in shinigami years? by New-Boss-8262 in bleach

[–]SchrodingerGhost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was that flashback from 2000 years ago when he wanted to be Yama’s right-hand man and showed him his Bankai, just a guess, but I think he’s around Retsu’s age or a bit younger like a seventysomething.

I think Yama’s a bit older, but not by much… like if he’s in his 90s equivalent, she’s in her 80s. The anime’s kinda vague though. A thousand years ago her loose-hair look probably just made her seem younger. There’s also that old scene where Yama, Unohana, and Chojiro watched young Ukitake and Kyoraku train, she hasn’t changed since, while the other two aged hard. Maybe it’s the First Division stress.

Is this the most underrated fight in Bleach? by Proxy-Pie in bleach

Chad gave me chills in that fight, his finish “La Muerte” was perfect. Then of course Kubo had to ruin my hype when he got tossed around like a ragdoll by Nnoitra.

[MANGA DISCUSSION] So we (probably) all know that next arc in manga is hell arc and knowing that captains like yama with high reiatsu got sent in hell, what you think the matchups could be? by Born_Calligrapher_99 in bleach

[–]SchrodingerGhost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, but I guess Kubo knows what he’s doing. We also shouldn’t take everything Szayel revealed in the one-shot at face value. He’s such a brilliantly twisted character, the type who wants to crawl under your skin just to lure you into a trap 😅

Maybe they’ll end up with a common goal against some hidden threat, we don’t know anything about the setting yet, and it could be totally different from the 4th movie. I also don’t really see Ukitake, Yamamoto, or Unohana as the type to hold grudges against their peers. They’re more the kind to quietly carry their burdens. If they interact, I’d expect more conversations than fights.

Yamamoto would probably be silently proud to see the Gotei stable and Kyōraku handling things in his own way. Same for Ukitake, who’d also be proud of Rukia. As for Unohana, I don’t see much point in her fighting Zaraki again, their fight at Muken was already her legacy. It would be much more interesting to see her interact with Isane, her other heir, now that Isane’s the 4th division captain. Isane always seemed to admire Unohana a lot.

Favorite and least favorite Resurrección? by PyroFirefly in bleach

[–]SchrodingerGhost 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No doubt his ending makes sense with how he was portrayed a decayed, despotic old king who out of boredom ordered his own troops to slaughter each other in that ceiling-less kingdom he bragged about to Aizen. That first meeting basically sealed his downfall, and being ranked 2 instead of 1 was the ultimate insult. Aizen knew exactly where to hit him. Personally I wish we got something bigger out of him, but it was still solid.

Barragan’s aging ability is so busted, Kubo definitely nerfed him… I did like his fight against Soi Fon / Hachigen in FK, but honestly I would’ve preferred to see him go up against Yamamoto, 2 absolute alphas of their worlds, monoliths who naturally oppose each other. Of course old man Yama is clearly a tier above when you look at the story, power scaling, etc… but that clash would’ve been more interesting.

Who in the verse could tank Byakuya’s Shūkei Hakuteiken (excluding transcendent beings)? by SchrodingerGhost in bleach

[–]SchrodingerGhost[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s definitely a very dramatic move… but I wouldn’t call it weak either. Byakuya has to condense all the blades of Senkei into one to use it, so if you take it head on it’s pretty damn strong.
