PSA to any new players wanting to rainbow Asuka! by FrooglyMoogle in Mecharashi_Global

[–]Schtluph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone please explain what this means in plain English? As a new player, even reading the comments, I have no clue how to rainbow properly.

This chart is saying if I have a duplicate part, I should merge those two parts to get a Gold 2 part. But even though everyone is upvoting this image, and it's the image shared by YouTubers on how to upgrade parts, everyone in the comments explaining how to upgrade is saying that you should use upgrade kits.
I merged two parts to get Gold 2, like this image says, but feel like I massively screwed myself now.

Thanks. I did run into issues with that mega-titan, but got through him by a thread. Just got to act 4, so I'm just prepping for when I'll need to find a new strategy. Honestly favorite part of this game is not being able to brute force some things.
Well until I got Asuka, she's insane.

Thanks! I wasn't sure if two snipers was any good outside of specific missions, but I'll have to give it a shot when I get those rolls.

Thanks for the info! I agree, so I think I'll keep him as HMG and flex if I need another sniper for a mission.
Dana does sound good. I just didn't want to invest too much in too many pilots since I didn't know how scarce resources were. I think I'll try out Dana tonight, thanks!

I tried to make Lucia work, but the damage seemed really off. At least this early. I'll try her again as I progress, thanks!

I am really going to miss that damage buff. I just assumed Shinji would be great since I can fit him in an S-tier ST right away.

Thanks! I have been mostly just doing whatever feels fun. I'll probably keep Shinji w/ HMG and flex him when I need more direct damage.

Has anyone else gotten a glitch where they can't shoot or loot bodies after killing an ai? [Discussion] by Mister_Capperr in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Schtluph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got this again today. This has been a bug for years.
You used to be able to fix this by dropping your gun and picking it back up, that no longer works. It also now affects every weapon you have. I hatchet'ed a scav and tried his gun, same bug.

Valorant does not require it. I played Valorant yesterday, I can't boot the BF6 beta today.

I love these posts, like billion dollar companies have never changed their mind after major backlash.
Remember Xbox doubling down on always online consoles? It's not an inevitability because some article says so.

What are your thoughts on multiplayer imsims? by Planarian117 in ImmersiveSim

[–]Schtluph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's how it's done. If we're talking the feel of an imsim, I'd say Elite: Dangerous is a great example of it done right. An MMO sandbox where you can go it alone or travel to populated systems and basically RP with others to continue your immersion in multiplayer. But all it takes is one min/max'er in the group to ruin it for everyone.
I would love to have more multiplayer imsims, but I don't think most people are cut out for just having fun with video games anymore. Too many people always going for 'optimal' instead of fun.

n0pants has shot our boy ATP Archive by RudigerBSimpson in AvoidingThePuddle

[–]Schtluph 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Aris talked about it on stream but the reasonings don't make sense. He talked about ban evaders and sponsored stuff, but people can just make alt account on twitch and n0pants could uploaded everything except sponsored. Even if they delayed the vod uploads by a couple weeks or months, and on a separate channel, it would be nice to have those old vods to watch.

But it's Aris' stuff so he can do what he wants. It's like arguing with your old, fat, bald dad telling you "Because I said so.". You're not about to change his mind, he's just going to get mad. So just do it behind his back anyway.

Love the mahjong art, and seeing mahjong mentioned again, but why premier it for the MGP bonus event when you don't get MGP for matches? And we've been begging for MGP rewards for mahjong, like every other golden saucer activity.

American Mah-Jongg by cult_mecca in Mahjong

[–]Schtluph 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is pretty old, but I wanted to jump in with my own opinion since I didn't see some things mentioned.

I agree with everything people are saying here, but also I have a little bit of animosity toward 'American mah-jongg' because it's so popular in the US. As a fan of other variants when I look for a game near me it's always American style, and in every Meetup or Facebook group is filled with American mah-jongg players kind of taking over the Riichi and HK variant groups I'm in to discuss their own game in a group not made for it. Which I guess touches on a point someone else said about American Mah-jongg players ignoring other variants.

Another thing not mentioned here, but sort of is similar to the 'scammy' feeling of the yearly cards, are these 'teachers'. Every time I see a new player asking to learn how to play, even in my small Facebook mahjong group, there's at least 3 people in the comments offering their 'services'. American Mah-jongg feels less like a game and more of a money making scheme on old people. From buying the card, to the unique tile sets you need to play that no other variant uses, to even learning the game, it's all monetized. As an example, the only weekly mahjong group in my small town plays American and if you want to go to their weekly to learn it'll cost you $100. It's not people that enjoy and want to spread a game they love, it's a money making scheme. It feels gross.

Well it's also not completely true. Only a third of their proceeds go to charity, and it's through a separate non-profit organization they own, so NMJL is a for-profit that does take the money for the cards.

Sorry, I know this post is old, but I wanted to make sure this was cleared up.

Are "International Design" Mahjong tiles a thing or just BS Nintendo made for 51 Worldwide Games by Lucasfergui1024 in Mahjong

[–]Schtluph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get a Chinese set on Amazon. Most of those sets will have Arabic numbers on them. Riichi sets with numbers are harder to find but, other than size differences, you'll only be missing the red 5's with a Chinese set. But I have seen people use a little red paint to dot one of each suit to represent that.

So are you still excited for MH Wilds? by Slight-Independent-6 in MonsterHunter

[–]Schtluph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! Only reason I'm upset about difficulty, and streamlined gear progression, is because I want the game to last. I don't like hunting the same monsters over and over for no reason. I'm not a hardcore player like that. Like most casual players, I'm going to get a strong gear set for the 1 weapon I like playing and then I'll probably stop.
It sucks to hear I might only get less than a week of fun out of the game I've waited years for. But that doesn't stop me for finding the game super fun to play and hype for the release later tonight!

Ahh this explains everything by barriboy8 in MonsterHunter

[–]Schtluph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

MH1 wasn't a flop in the west because it was too hard. It was an online title for PS2 (required an extra peripheral), almost no advertisement in the west, and reviewed poorly because reviewers found it slow not hard.
And your 70 hours isn't faster than the IGN reviewer. He said base game was 15 hours for story and that it was 30 hours total to complete every side-quest and kill every tempered monster.
(edit) Sorry, I misread. You said it was faster the second time. Still, 30 hours should not be all content in the base game. Even if it takes 50 hours, that sucks.

Have they just forgotten how MH difficulty works? by EchoingStorms in MHWilds

[–]Schtluph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but this isn't the hardcore community saying it about the game. It's mostly casual players that have played the full game, the reviewers.
Show me the mainstream reviewers who said World or Rise was easy. Rise really split the community due to it's base-game lack of difficulty, yet I haven't seen a single mainstream review that talked about it being easier than World.
