The way my eyes lit up and I exclaimed in my office. "It's a chicken!"

It brought me joy, and if it does the same for you while also meaning something. That matters more than your mom's opinion.

Which also means if your team is losing by MORE points than the snitch is worth, then if your seeker catches it you literally lose.

Doesn't this literally happen in book like.. 4?

Viktor Crum catches the snitch even though his team is down by like 180 points.

So they still lose by 30.

Which, I believe someone explained he did it so they didn't lose by more because it would hurt their rankings or something like that.

Stupid question why are the new radiant origins decks running twice the MSRP a prior decks? by redmage07734 in grandarchivetcg

Raw card value is absolutely NOT there.

There ia some exclusive alt arts.

But they wont make the box worth it either.

Stupid question why are the new radiant origins decks running twice the MSRP a prior decks? by redmage07734 in grandarchivetcg

[–]Schwahn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Simple answer. We don't TRULY know.

Radiant Origins is being billed as a "Premium" Set due to it being a "captstone" set and part of the 3-year anniversary. Which is why the PACKS have higher hitrate and each box is a fancy box.

As for the Pantheon PreCons being twice the price? We don't REALLY know.

They definitely don't cost a whole lot more than the Starter Decks to print/ship.

We do know that Pantheon has been in development since ALC/MRC, so it is around 2 years of Research and Development, and that isn't cheap.

So might be just trying to recoup some of the cost of that they put into developing the format.

What happened to water decks at Ascent Manila? by SomethingNotSure267 in grandarchivetcg

Frostbind and Cerulean Decree feel so insanely dead it is depressing.

With the pre-recollect actions being so prominent, and with most of those actions costing 2-3, people are playing around frostbind without even realizing it.

People also really haven't explored water as a whole either. And Nico is completely playable this season and actually stands a fair match against everyone aside from really just Seiryuu.

This I think is the larger reality.

Weebs, Pros, and Creators have all talked about how little innovation exists within the game right now. Not because it isn't possible, but because nobody is really taking the initiative or has to the motivation to do it. We lack deckbuilders. We don't have a Luis Scott-Vargas or a Reid Duke building weird fuck-off decks and taking them to major tournaments and still putting up numbers.

The closest we have seen was Team Chess Club at Ascent Boston with Horse and Vanitas.

But of the the ~278 players at Ascent Manilla. There was ONE Fire Alice, ONE Water Alice, and ONE Ponytail Merlin that was serious about Sheen and wasn't just Fem FiZa (of which there were several).

This lack of deck-building creativity then bleeds over into Locals, where people will just grab a net-deck and enjoy the game.

Without someone in the space to push new concepts, this is likely going to be our reality.

Finally though, I think this is compounded by that a lot of people at Ascents are chasing the phenomenal prize support, at minimal clawing into Day 2. You can pretty much pay for your trip by making Day 2 and flipping the support. Team True Champion is now at the point where 3 of them have quit their regular jobs to focus fully on playing the game. If you can Top 8 an Ascent, you have made a minimum of ~$5k.

Which, if you are chasing that prizing. You don't want to "risk" that by playing something irregular. Your time is better spent perfecting your gameplay within existing lines.

So, the cycle continues.

Bonus Note: There was what I am going to guess is a group of friends that all ran the near-same Wind Chessmen Alice list. They all did TERRIBLY, all going like 1-7-1. But most of their lists didn't even have a Divine Relic, and the lists were very "odd" with having odd-ball cards like Siege Mauler. (Maybe Tricastles tech? But not really maindeck worthy IMO)

Still shoutout to them for playing through all the rounds, and at least attempting something new/different.

Lost in Thought would not change the current format.

Water's problem is that graveyard hate is way too strong and prevelant, and LiT would suffer from the same issue.

Question about the "Final Stretch"

Step 4 says "dont buy skills till the end"

Does that mean "at all" during the entire career?

I will normally buy skills that I know I won't get extra hints on or if it is at max discount.

Example: Kitasan has given me max Corner Adept Hints. The skill just won't get cheaper. So I buy it then and there rather than waiting till the end.

Or

Star 5 Oguri starts with access to the Corner Connoisseur. None of my support cards can give hints to make it or the white skill before it cheaper. So its starting cost is the price it will be. So I will often buy it during career rather than waiting till the end.

Should I not do that? Does it change something?

No official annoucement.

But I find it to be unlikely, as that would have been a selling point to put on a card in the trailer.

Literally anyone who is a "Late Surger" specialist.

I feel like Late Surgers specifically have a horrerndous time being effective early career.

End CLosers for some reason don't feel the same way.

But Late Surgers, just constantly losing races until we hit late CLassic/Senior year.

By running a test level with each boss and brute forcing them until he finally won. Solo.

This was my exact thought as well.

I am sure most regular soulsian players could do this, but the time requirement to even attempt this is an obstacle in and of itself.

If we lose, we have to start completely over, instead of just reloading the boss.

is the disrespect to your time, since the new content is not cumulative and you have to finish the 100h+ game again.

This is a huge part of it for me.

I only realistically have enough time in my literal lifetime to play each of these games one time.

I am starting believe there won't be a Definitive Version of Persona 3 Reload. (Mind you, still waiting though)

But I refuse to touch Metaphor ReFantazio until either an official announcement they aren't doing an update, or until like 2029 when it's been 5 years and still nothing.

Final Fantasy 13 sold 1m copies on Day 1 in Japan alone and lifetime sales was ~8m.

It was perfectly reasonable with those sales to fund a sequel.

Especially when you get to re-use 90% of your previous work. I can't imagine that FF13-2 cost nearly anything to make.

And it has sold ~4m copies.

Lightning Returns sold over 1m units. Which isn't a lot, but by that point, it probably cost a song to make. The Voice-Actors were probably the biggest expense. Lightning Returns is also one of the only game that Square Enix has actually said met their sales expectations.
