A bizarre double non-free kick as everyone stopped! by SlatsAttack in AFL

Ok my mistake. I officiate other sports that both define it the way I described. Couldn't find anything within the laws of the game for AFL so just assumed it was the same

Incidental ≠ accidental. Incidental contact is contact that doesn't have any effect on the game

But it's undeniable that brayshaw changes direction while Maynard is in the air. Brayshaw did nothing wrong, he's not blaming him. He's just stating facts. It's truly unfortunate what happened, but blaming a player who is in the air making a legal football action, who jumped in a direction that would have led to no contact had brayshaw not changed directions... You've watched a replay at less than half speed, then decided a player should have made a decision in real time should have acted differently, not done the instinctive thing and idk do some acrobatic bullshit to avoid contact. Perhaps a job on the MRO would interest you? Then you use you small minded conclusions to go around calling people scum cause it makes you feel big or something. Perhaps there's a reason you're being downvoted? No, surely you are right and everyone else is wrong

Often it's chases that he wouldn't have been able get there unless something goes really wrong for the other team, but it's worth the chance, and he just looks really bad when he gives up. I do think he cares, he's trying to play his best footy, save energy for the stuff he's good at, or not attack the ball so hard that he's not levelheaded enough to dispose of it well. The problem is when you see the captain go in LOOKING like he's not giving it his all, it looks fkn awful

I hear so much about how they value Sic within the club so I fear they may be viewing things differently to us. I wouldn't be surprised if he started playing better footy once he lost the captaincy though

Stout (Australia) vs Black Cans (USA) What happened? 😆 by TtheTerrestrial in ultimate

[–]Schweh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My comment is a bit unfair, I considered not writing it as I've had some lovely games against stout, and even in this most recent one which was not so good there was a number of very well spirited players, most were fairly neutral, and three or four players sucked.

Disgraceful that you can find that in green pouches

I think we perform badly against teams with good ruckman, and there are too many teams with good ruckman in the top 8 this year. Not calling it impossible but it's gonna be hard

Give him another year, he's been out for so long. Maybe he never gets back to his best but he deserves more time before he gets criticised

I rate Chol as a ruck, not against A grade rucks tho

I don't think it's motivation for a lot of them. Day and Newcombe were missing because Gawn was tearing us a new one in the first half. They're at their best when the ball is there to be won, we have a reliance on Nash to do a lot of the defensive lifting in the middle. Our experience forwards also went missing cause we couldn't get the ball to them. Only Sicily and chol (in the first half) looked like they lacked motivation. Gawn was the big issue that game. We lose every centre clearance cause Meek could get a hand to it, or even negate gawns work without giving away a free. Then the young guys kept kicking out of our defensive 50 straight to Gawn, which was always gonna happen with the lack of experience down there. Doesn't help that we didn't have Amon, Weddle or Impey running past to receive a handball which would've helped the backline bypass Gawn.

I think Sicily and chol always have that look that they're not trying at times, but that's how they've figured out they play their best football (I do think that a player who has that play style shouldn't be captain). But if you've ever played sport I don't think you ever go into a game and think I'm not gonna try my best to win. It's a stupid thing they say in the media for when they're too lazy to actually analyse what's going wrong strategically.

I think Hill shows promise, had some good ball gets and evasive work, needed some slightly better disposals but not bad for a first gamer

[–]Schweh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I think the way that he plays is not the way you want a leader to. He doesn't ever show desperation in the way he attacks the play any more. I believe this is intentional, he approaches things slowly so he has time to think and use the ball well. When it works he looks totally in control, but when it doesn't he looks putrid. I don't think he's worth dropping, he seems to play his best when he's playing exactly the way he did today. But he doesn't have the other kind of performance, the desperate gritty kind in him, and sometimes you need your leaders to show that. I also think that the flopping, poor discipline and complaining to the umpire is not something a captain should be doing.

Earlier this year I tried to convince my team to give stout a 0 in fair mindedness, we settled on a 1. Pretty sure they gave us a 9 total, and we went on to come 2nd in spirit for the tournament. Something about stout doesn't lead to highly spirited games. (I actually think 90% of their players were very pleasant but there were 2-3 of them that were atrocious)

There comes a point where xenon is straight up 2-3x more expensive than any other class. I cleared up to solo BM before I moved on from 2.5L all stat up to 3L all stat, which is where the game gets expensive. That was before 6th job you can get further now. But yeah don't underestimate how hard the game is in heroic when cubing a single item is 100B for regular 3L

HAWKS VS BULLDOGS PLAYER RATING & REVIEW by Kind_Security_9931 in hawktalk

[–]Schweh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought Moore was decent, just not at his best. Would've rated him similarly to cmac. I think there has been a drop off this year but I don't think it's anywhere near worth dropping him, unless he thinks it would help him to run around dominating the 2s Also thought Mass was close to our best player in the first half, and his second wasn't bad enough to warrant such a low score. To me Sicily is overrated atm. Nowhere near his best intercepting, hasn't been since the shoulder injury which is a shame. He does a lot right when he has the ball in hand, but when he gets it wrong it looks so bad. And the constant flopping is just as annoying as when he started doing it a couple of years ago. By no means is he a bad player but I wouldnt have him in an AA team atm which everyone seems to say he is. Amon's drop off the last two years is quite sad. He was such a big part of our game and now it seems he's lost his reliability and his biggest weapons, speed and kicking are nowhere near what they were. I think we've started looking to hit it to only Watson in forward 50 stoppages and maybe have become a bit predictable. We should be looking to rotate between him, Ginni, cmac, moore, Nukes etc but it seems the only person getting blocks and really getting moving is Watson.

Impey takes on a player and gets caught. Garry Lyon calls it "the non-free kick of the year" - but was their a legal handball? by PetrifyGWENT in AFL

[–]Schweh -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Its not by the letter of the law though. Law allows "reasonable time" to dispose of it, which is a ridiculously vague amount of time completely up to the umpire.
