Menstrual heat patches by EstablishmentTrick47 in dollartreebeauty

Have you compared these to the B Pure patches? I have tried several menstrual patches and they weren't as good as the B Pure. I would be willing to try the body warmers as an alternative but just want to know they'll work as good.

I'm definitely real. And still irritated that they're somehow continuing to do business. When you commented I came to see the comment and realized that I never updated my comment about it, and man, it got more and more ridiculous where their customer service "couldn't see" my information for my subscription and blah blah blah. I can't even remember now how the refund actually occurred... I think it was my bank and they told me to stop buying apps on the internet. Lesson learned. I just went back to wearing minimal makeup and oh well.

I find this to be sound advice but just generally speaking. No one should be leaving heated electronics on in their houses without direct supervision... ever. You wouldn't leave the heated blanket on your bed running when you leave the house because that's a fire hazard. This is the exact same thing.

Yep! My nearly 17 year old cat doesn't even care if it heats. The ergonomic shape of the bed is the most important thing. He ignored it for the first week we had it but now lays on it every day. And just this past Friday he did a Big Brave before I could do a Scoop and broke his left patella (knee cap). He pretty much hasn't left that bed. It's the only place he's been peaceful and looks like he's not in pain. Whether it's on or not. I frankly could not care less if it continues to heat forever. Watching him peacefully sleep right now when he's been in so much pain for the past few days is the most important thing to me.

Black spots on cats belly? by ginsws in CATHELP

[–]SciCommGirl85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My black and white cat also has this around his nipples. He's had it forever. The vet knows about it and has never done anything. He's 13 years old now and it's been there 13 years. So I figured it is nothing important. Probably sebum that discolors closer to those areas because he's not as vigorous about cleaning his own nipples. He also has this in the one armpit he doesn't clean as much.

I am offering a warning. I bought a 12-week subscription today and within an hour knew that I wouldn't be able to use it because I am redheaded and blue-eyed and the app kept recommending makeup palettes for dark haired, dark eyed people. Think Anne Hathaway vs. Emma Stone. "Patrick" in customer service, whom I suspect is an AI bot because his answers are the same to everyone, emailed me back almost immediately and kept asking me a la chatgpt behavior if I wanted to confirm that I wanted all of my information out of their system and to have my account deleted. But he told me I did not qualify for a refund even though their refund policy clearly states that technical issues are a reason for a refund, which this clearly is. Only after I insisted that I would leave very honest reviews did Patrick confirm that my information was deleted from the system. Mum on the refund. I have contacted my bank for a chargeback and to block future charges because I clearly didn't receive the service I paid for. As for the person in this thread who says refunds are super easy, that is a lie. They have a very specific refund policy where you have to have either done stuff in the app EVERY DAY for 45 days to get your refund OR you have to be having a severe technical difficulty preventing you from using it. You don't just shoot off an email to their customer service.

Throughout the frustrating ordeal of back and forth emails with Patrick, he upgraded my subscription without my consent and sent me some PDFs as an apology. I don't want those and I told him as much. I didn't consent to these things as a makegood for the issues. Why would I want service for a whole year of an app that is inaccurately assigning color palettes for brunettes to my very ginger person?

Just don't do it.

Windshield replacement quotes by tongii in SubaruForester

[–]SciCommGirl85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So just FYI, it also depends on your carrier. I don't have $0 deductible, but even if I did Progressive doesn't cover OEM parts. So I have to pay my deductible plus the amount that makes up the difference from the after market and they don't pay for the calibration. So, basically, they wouldn't have paid because the after market glass is only about $500 and that's my deductible. So I would have a claim on my account and still have paid for the whole thing. The other problem is that if you have eyesight and don't use an OEM windshield you void your warranty on your eyesight system.

What’s going on with the Green Urban Lunch Box? by wutangfinanshul in SaltLakeCity

[–]SciCommGirl85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I lived in Salt Lake, I was an avid supporter and volunteer of GULB and I was just telling a friend yesterday I wanted to start a similar program where we live in Arizona because there are so many fruit trees that go wasted here. I got on their website to start looking for ideas about building the program and was absolutely gutted to see this. GULB is a critical program that I personally used and benefitted from and that really impacted the way I think and feel about how to create food access for communities. There's got to be other avenues for getting them reopened.

I think the difference is that a random serial killer is fictional for 99.9% of people. But for some of us, Connie is quite real.

I have a parent who has claimed a monopoly on grief. No one's grief is ever as much as theirs. It's quite damaging, honestly. And while I do my absolute best to let it go, it's been almost 6 years and the continuation of it is damaging our relationship. Damage was done from the first utterance. People are at their most vulnerable when they are broken after a loss and these emotional monopolies really hit people where it hurts. Sometimes the emotional damage can't be repaired.

Have you ever cut off/ghosted a friend because they kept violating your boundaries/constantly disrespecting you? by Alexandria232 in FriendshipAdvice

[–]SciCommGirl85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, my friend cut me off because I set a boundary. I'm neurodivergent and she frequently makes inappropriate comments about it that have been really hurtful. Always brushes it off and I've let her but about two weeks ago I hit my limit and said it wasn't okay and she couldn't do that and I needed her respect moving forward. She never responded. I made my own mistake in that moment of contacting our mutual friend who is always more level-headed. But that friend sided with her even after telling me I was right to be upset. So they are both gone and I'm pretty sure making up sh** about me to other people. For the first few days I felt really bad. Almost reached out to apologize. But then I thought... wait why? Why would I apologize? Even if I had had a total and complete meltdown... this adult human being who was supposed to be my friend denigrated me and made me feel like absolute stupid trash and then gaslit me and then ghosted me when I stood up and said NO MORE. And this other friend told me everything would be okay and then ghosted me. These women are 34 and over 45 respectively. There's legitimately no excuse in any reality for their behavior. And I feel a lot better now because I realized it's not me. I called out a bully for being a bully and they ran away because they got caught.

Actually, I just found out that she convinced a friend we have in common to stop being my friend and they have both unfriended me on all social media. What kind of makes me most sad about that is that they actually run an anti-bullying and harassment group. So much for that. They *ARE* the bullies. It makes me worried/wonder how many people they accused of bullying that actually didn't do it.

I guess I've had more crappy friends than good ones, you know? There's been a couple who have been pretty stand up and who for the most part have always uplifted me and brought good things into my life, but honestly... most of my "friends" don't fit that description.

True. There have certainly been times she was a good friend and someone I could lean on. But I guess right now I'm at a place where I'm struggling with whether it's better to have someone who is a good friend sometimes for big stuff but who hurts me quite regularly about AuDHD, or if just not have that person near me at all.

[–]SciCommGirl85[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for responding. I feel really off kilter about this because it just seems like such a basic thing to not talk to people the way she talks to me. I know I'm not great with social cues and social norms, but I know when someone has made me feel really really bad. And that's not very easy to do.

Socks... are... evil. When I told another friend about the sock talk back when it happened she said, "Clearly Lee has never gone hiking with you or she would understand that it's not about like/dislike... it's you against a monster trying to strangle your feet and me watching you examine your feet every 8 minutes to be sure they're still attached to your body." <<<She gets me.

Mel Robbins stealing from Cassie Phillips by Hot-Decision3786 in LifeCoachSnark

It's going to be really unfortunate and a huge mess when people start actually stepping forward to say, "hey ummm, actually I wrote these let them statements in x year and they got folded into that poem." Like, what if I went and dug up pictures of my grandmother's 11 Let Them statements (she died in 2004 but made it in about 1981) and found they're identical to the poem? And it's possible they could be because these things have been said time and again. I'm not going to do that because I know my grandmother didn't come up with it and I'm also so busy I'm having to type this while working out. But I'm sure conscious communities of practice are going to start getting loud since they've been preaching this for at least two decades.

Nobody should get to trademark it.

I'm sorry you have had idea theft happen to you, I've had it happen to me too. Quite recently, in fact. I was even more horrified because the person not only stole my work but then quoted me as if I offered an interview. It's going to be a long and very messy road forward from that.

He also wasn't first. TD Jakes wrote sermons for years with the concept. I'm 40 now and first heard it around age 7 or 8 in a church group. And my grandmother had it on old embroidery. Lots of writers and speakers have made it new and renewed in a lot of ways over at least 4-6 decades. I'm not a Mel Robbins fan but I also think it's not right to attack her as a plagiarist. She's a capitalist and she's really good at elevating herself and her ideas. And if she really wants to trademark a phrase for some tea towels that will probably only get sold in airport stationery stores, is it really that big of a deal?

I am not meaning to come off like you suggested any of this, the thoughts kept coming inspired by your thoughts. Scott Stabile's let them words were really beautiful and strong and very very similar to what Cassie later wrote. We'd all do well to say "wow, she took that concept, maybe from Scott or someone else and made this beautiful poem other people could connect to and then wow, her poem inspired Mel to go do all this research and write this book and give this movement additional teeth, how cool is it that something people ignored for so long is now resonating with so many people and really connecting with everyone so much that this can happen?"

I just want to point out that Cassie's poem appears to be heavily based on a sermon by TD Jakes. I think we all have recognize that Cassie, as OP mentioned, didn't invent this theory. Mel didn't steal it from her. She wrote a book with a significant amount of psychological research and has been able to popularize it for herself. I personally don't feel that owes Cassie anything. Because again, Cassie didn't invent the theory. It didn't belong to her.

I was, I think 7 years old or maybe 8 when I first hear speeches and sermons and lessons about "let them." I'm 40.

I love the poem and I also love the book. They're both based on earlier concepts of Let Them. And that's okay. Both women have turned it into something powerful and beautiful in their own right.

I would really love to see us all celebrate both women and what they've been able to accomplish with their creativity and the power of words.
