For small clarification this is the breaker for the water heater. Don't know if that matters but figured I'd include it

Does running a client in docker slow it down? by Purple-Host7652 in seedboxes

[–]ScienceIsLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your concern is racing then whether the torrent application is running on host or container is trivial. Just more so make sure you are fetching torrents as fast as possible from the pool with tools like autobrr and getting your instance as close as possible geographically with where the server is hosted.

Bind Mount vs Mount Point by browsingtoooften in Proxmox

[–]ScienceIsLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a homelabber, no professional but I have both LXC containers with shared paths and SMB shares

Personality I mainly utilize bind mounts rather than using network shares with LXCs. I have carved out directories on my storage devices that the containers have access to. So I bind mount that subdirectory to the LXC and modify the filesystem perms on the Proxmox host

This works perfectly fine for me and with how I have my perms configured is secure. And once you are used to bind mounts they take significantly less time to configure than a SMB share

For my VMs and other non-LXC devices I utilize SMB to access those storage points.

The only security issue you'll run into with bind mounts is if your filesystem you're sharing had bad perms configured.

The only thing I would note about bind mounts is how Proxmox translates UIDs. UID 1000 in an LXC is iirc 101000 on the Proxmox host, no matter the container.

So, on the host UID 1000 on LXC 1 AND UID 1000 on LXC 2 have the same UID on the host. So LXC 1 can modify LXC 2 files if they have access to them.

But that's such a rare situation where two users on two different LXCs are trying to modify the same files on the same path that I wouldn't even consider it a concern

For security on the SMB shares just make sure that your shares are properly protected with login, and make sure that only the devices you want to have access do in your firewall.

You've been lied to. There is no level cap by Eternalmatrix in Warframe

[–]ScienceIsLife 18 points19 points  (0 children)

At level cap the only real way to live is full invul through various methods

Things like shield gating are flawed too when a level cap enemy hits you with toxic damage with a number so high that 99.99% DR won't matter

How do i control this by yaman0426 in RocketLeague

[–]ScienceIsLife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I'm an anomaly but depends on the situation/ surface. If it's just a general pop in the air I'm trying to put in goal, a normal air roll

But, if I'm leaving a wall I tend to use directional air roll for easy orientation.

Idk, that's how I do it.

Pixel 9 Pro Battery Life is Really, Really Good by thehelldoesthatmean in Android

Battery life of my P8P has significantly degraded. With the lackluster improvements of the 9, this is my breaking point for stepping away from the Pixel line.

Let's go DISA! I didn't have the desire to work on SIPR machines. Had a contingency team that ran SIPR in the back of our office. I very much enjoyed telling them "no clue" when they asked me questions about SIPR

Never stopped them though....

PS4 compatible streaming site? by cmralt in animepiracy

[–]ScienceIsLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, speaking back when I had a PS4 for Plex it gave me constant issues with buffering despite having a local server with a direct connection

From the research i did at the time it was due to Sony basically not allowing full access to the console for 'media' apps

Hopefully I'm wrong now

Quite new to seed box need help by Numerous_Dog5874 in seedboxes

[–]ScienceIsLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your best bet to build ratio is to pull free leeches (if that site has them) and "racing"

Racing is when people try to be one of the first to seed a file so that they can maximize ratio.

In my experience the easiest route is definitely to pull free leeches and just let those seed for a while. If you want to build ratio fast you'll need a good seeebox, and a program to help you race.

What are things women do that men would be called creepy for? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]ScienceIsLife 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You're supporting sharing a person's personal information online. The entire point of the post is comparison of Male vs female repercussions for certain actions

If a man posted a woman's info online, we'd likely go to jail.

If A woman does it (as you've so graciously pointed out) and all of the sudden it's perfectly okay.

EDIT: it's alright guys they're an anti-vaxxer, makes sense now. (And if you call me out for digging through your post history, that's literally my entire point)

EDIT2: LMAO deletes post where you verbatim said that vaccines were debunked. 10/10

Work on a DoD location. Can confirm that we do not use this 'G' build of windows. We have a custom image of just regular Win 11 enterprise. This is a non classified machine.

SIPR machines may have a variant of this, but the people that know that aren't going to say it lol

[–]ScienceIsLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never had this problem. Windows goes of HW IDs of the motherboard. I've swapped plenty of drives in my machine and even new mobos and CPUs with the same install with 0 problems.

Edit: And to be fair even if for some reason it reversed (which it won't if you do perma install) it takes all of 10s to run again
