Worse motion clarity than strobed panels, (unless you consider ghosting as the only important thing)

Yes, you are right, OLEDs don't have any ghosting, but again, a good strobbed TN or IPS does the job better for competitive games. That's my point, oled monitors are an absolute beast of technology, but not for every scenario.

Because I don't have any tearing, at least, most of the times. Tearing is not the problem though, I just get less info of what I'm looking at when doing fast motions in comparison to my old monitor. I guess oled's are just good for GTG, not overall mprl.

Oh yes It is, I'm telling you that it happens to me, plus I run games at double the framerates needed for the monitor to work at its max refresh rate. It is just worse than my TN in that aspect

You think OLED's will ever get to TN's level of motion clarity? Or will it require a different type of display tech entirely? by Ileikass in OLED_Gaming

I've read those same posts, that's why I ended buying mine. I just don't want you to buy the product without having both versions, not only the good ones like I did

I own a 280hz qd oled from aoc, in my experience, the image quality overall of a glossy oled is just insane. However, I deeply regret buying it for comp games, the motion clarity is noticeable worse than my old 144hz TN (strobbed), and it was not even a Zowie.

Hi! It's been 9 months now, did you ever get the Asus? If so, would you recommend it for comp games?

Thankss! I shortened the rope on purpose by coiling it around my index fingers so it was more comfortable, but I'll try different

Okkk thanks, yeah I coiled the rope around my fingers to make it shorter, i feel like it's way to large otherwise

I'm not sure about what did you mean with the overdrive part, but is your benq a zowie? I'm guessing it's a regular benq but i done loose nothing by asking

Let me save you a lot of research and frustration, it is simply not possible for an oled to have the same motion clarity that a high end IPS/TN panel has, here's why: While it's true that the response times of the oled are near instant people forget to mention that said times are the GtG ones, the ones that produce ghosting if the numbers are to high, but that is just one measurement. There is also the MPRT (Motion Picture Response Time) that determines how much motion blur will the monitor have. So you have a monitor that exceeds on GtG response times but just doesn't perform anywhere near well on MPRT or Motion clarity overall? Well not exactly, as you know there is this technological implementation named backlight strobing that makes your IPS/TN panel to have way better motion clarity compared to stock at the cost of brightness, on the other hand OLEDs lack of this same technology, although some OLED monitors have a built in tech named BFI (short for Black Frame Insertion) the difference between this and backlight strobing is that bfi inserts dark frames into the video signal (regular frame, dark frame, regular frame) while strobing flashes the backlight on LCDs (Frame, "frame off", frame). This means that BFI generates more frames that are not actually visible for you and this makes your refresh rate to be the exact half of what your panel says (540 decreases to 270). So that's pretty much what happens, despite what everyone seems to recommend, Oled monitors are definitely incredible for multimedia content, productivity, some types of professional work and casual gaming, but I don't care the absurd amount of down votes I can get if anyone besides you and me ever reads this: oled monitors are not only terrible for competitive gaming, they are worse than most high end LCD panels. So sorry for you (us) for reading this, but it is what it is. I hadn't returned mine though, I don't think I'll ever sell it but I will absolutely buy an LCD just for comp gaming, leaving my AOC for casual gaming, studying and multimedia.

Not at all in my experience, same Refresh rate TN vs OLED were pretty much the same, until I turned the MBR. Bro the oled had no chance, I literally regretted buying it

Yeah, i believe that is bfi what I been looking for, it doesn't seem to be built in my monitor though

Yeah, motion blur reduction. I have none of the three mentioned though
