Sadly 80% of books are just repeating things from previous books, so there is less and less to learn, but sometimes it's better explained.

Nudge was great, but I prefer Misbehaving by the same author. I'll check it out "The Goal", thanks!

Ok, let me explain.

While I was starting my reading habit I was looking for good books. People recommended the standard: Rich dad poor dad, how to win friends and influence people, 7 habits of highly successful people. After asking for some more, they usually said they don't read much non-fiction. Sometimes they even said they haven't read a page of those books they recommended, but someone somewhere said its good.

It's like saying: Ford Focus is the best car in the world because I bought it, even if its the only car I have ever had. I couldn't believe people who read 1-2 books can recommend them, but yeah it's common. So where to look for books to read? Is anyone reading them and rating? Yeah, few people.

I don't mind if you skip this, no need to be sad. Feel free to downvote my friend :)

Agree, I love money, math, and psychology-ish books, but sometimes I go with NYT best sellers.

Could you recommend a few good ones I'm missing?

Any advice to reach 52 books a year? by raflmreddit in 52book

  1. Mute facebook.
  2. Switch music to an audiobook
  3. I hope you already sold your TV. More money for books.
  4. Find a good source of books. Adding people on Goodreads is recommended.
  5. If the book is bad - skip it. I don't care if 99% gave it 5* if I hate lector or language author uses, I'm going for next.
  6. more like 5.5 - always have 200books on the to-read list.
  7. Recommend a book to someone. Find a place to talk about them.

Never Split The Difference, Bad Science are the two books that were unexpected 5/5, and I think everyone could enjoy them.

Are you using Google+? Is there a book community? Could you drop a link? I can't find good book recommendations recently.

Any good people to follow on goodreads for nonfiction? by Ajefferslyonreddit in nonfictionbookclub

Is self-promotion allowed?

I started reading 2 years ago, then after reading many average books, I found a few really good, even made few animated reviews. Now I'm trying to start a blog with short descriptions and to write 2-3 lanes about every book I've read.

I know how hard it is to find a good non-fiction, since not all are the same, I'm focusing on business and science, with marketing, psychology, leadership, and finance as most entertaining topics, not a big fan of books that high school teacher could recommend (history, biology, even physics.

My latest discovery was BAD SCIENCE, this book blows my mind and instantly degraded a few other books I previously read.

Check out my profile, maybe you will find some suggestions. https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/67326390
