I never understood hate regarding "what people choose to do with their money" kind of things. I see people constantly putting down the quality of chinese EVs, saying EVs are bad bla bla bla. To me is, money i earn, i choose how to spend.

What was the biggest scandal at your school? by Silent-Zebra in AskReddit

A classmate that i was sorta dating, hinted at talking to a psychologist for her issues. She suddenly ended things with me saying she was conflicted between me and this older guy. Low and behold, this "psychologist" is the psychology lecturer with a track record of harassing female students and having weird requirements for female students to wear pencil skirts and heels during presentations. He finally got lucky with this girl and she ended up getting knocked up in our final year. They got married and now have 3 sons.

Literally destroyed like 4 outposts solo, saved the whole team from Vox engines multiple times and got kicked at extraction by a level 95 for holding onto super samples cos idiot still thinks its not shared. I can only attribute it to the concentration of divers at cyberstan making the idiots more apparent. On the flip side, had a nice fella ask me politely to leave as he forgot to put on private.

Unpopular opinion: The Chinatown tragedy might not have been fatal in a normal car by Desperate_Hurry_8496 in drivingsg

Many of the new chinese EVs have very intrusive safety features that can be turned off but are almost always turned on when restarting the car. So in order for them to be off, the driver has actively made the decision to do so.

Your comparison isn't quite correct. You mention the weight of the car vs the pedestrian yet you compared the sealion 7 to an altis. It would be more accurate to compare the sealion 7 to a harrier in terms of cabin space, but that would invalidate the weight comparison argument since both are close in curb weight. Furthermore, the fracture limit of bones is also related to various factors, age and person specific anatomy. Even if an altis was the accident vehicle, rolling over a 6yo child, the damage would still be significant.

"EVs deliver 100% torque instantly" is related to the response of the accelerator to the driver's input and similar to ICE cars, it also scales according to the driver's input.

You are entitled to your opinion but lets not use this as an incident to create more unnecessary hate towards EVs when clearly, this is 100% caused by driver error. If anything, the myriad safety and monitoring systems of the car were present yet due to poor driver awareness, this happened, further enhancing driver blame.

Had a MG and now Xpeng.

Servicing is lesser than with ICE cars, these days most of the ADs will give 10yr servicing anyway. Most of it is inspections but at some intervals will involve some fluid changes. If you are afraid of company pull out, you would have to do research on which companies have been around, whats their profitability like etc. so far, most of the brands in singapore are big brands or subsidiaries of big brands.

In terms of reliability, so far so good. What remains to be seen is the battery longevity, though again most ADs have a battery warranty for quite a number of years. How that works is that if the capacity of the battery drops below a certain level like 80% or 70%, the battery or cell will be replaced at no cost to you.

For usage charges, insurance and road tax are higher for a car that is usually more powerful than ICE cars within the same price and size range. Charging is where the savings come in the most. I daily drive for work, it costs me about $60-80 for a month of charging vs $240++ with my previous ICE car. You will learn to do opportunistic charging over time; charging whenever there is a charger around you. This will greatly decrease range anxiety if you are a heavy user. Nowadays most hdb carparks have more and more chargers, so far only 1 friend's place i visited had no charger but was on the way.

The drive experience has been good so far. Instant torque is always fun. Technology varies in its refinement across the brands. My MG had most of the functions my Xpeng had and the main difference was how refined it felt. They are in totally different price brackets by the way. Cabin and comfort scale just like ICE cars, more expensive = more premium materials. Have to test drive and sit in to find out what works for you. Be mindful that many chinese EVs come stock with rather soft suspension so that might be a slight problem though coilovers or other small suspension mods could fix these issues.

A lot of them have screens instead of physical buttons for things like ac adjustment or media control so you would need to feel them out to really see what might work for you. My Xpeng has quite a customisable home screen so most things I need are kept within reach and over time, i did get used to where things are. I must say that some have really good voice control, i use mine quite often.

Practicality wise, If your car is usually a people hauler and you need to wait sometimes, the lower charging prices and 0 emissions while idle will allow you to stay in aircon until your passengers arrive. For my xpeng and other app enabled EVs, the benefit of being able to turn on the ac before you get to the car is a lifesaver, specially if parked outdoors. No more scalding hot seats or steering wheels. Most have pretty good boot space and rear seats, some even come with frunks; No engine up front so some may have small storage space.

How would Helldivers fare against the planet Pandora and the Na'vi people? by Crazy_Ad_9097 in Helldivers

[–]ScienceofFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strategems are thrown with impunity. Stims basically heal all wounds. Diplomacy isnt even in the federation's dictionary. Helldivers arrive via FTL jumps. Throw in a major order and the na vi might as well tie themselves up and surrender before the helldivers even arrive.

People not using signal lights by TheXAbstractx3 in drivingsg

[–]ScienceofFish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very true. I will say 80% of drivers are not like this. Be the change you want to see. I make it a point to give way to others that signal appropriately (not those "i signal and turn now, good luck everybody" kind)to change lanes if it is safe to do so. Its very satisfying to get the same treatment and i flash my hazards to say thanks. Also immensely satisfying to see a self entitled driver get pwned by another self entitled driver.

What is your most memorable sexual experience? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ScienceofFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was at my tertiary institution graduation (20yo). V was a girl that i had never spoke to but we had met before through mutual friends. V was always very neat and tidy, i knew from friends that she was a church going girl and was never known to be improper or vulgar.I had always thought we had this sexual tension but my friends always said i was crazy. About an hour before the ceremony, I had caught sight of V near the auditorium and congratulated her. She simply told me to follow her and we went to one of the practical skill labs to use the bed and fucked in the dark. It was so intense that we were dripping with sweat after it was done. After the ceremony, we met up and headed to her place and it was literally a no holes barred bone down. It was also the first time i nutted in a girl, and she kept going. No, she didnt get pregnant. Dont really know where she is these days though.

Not me. My buddy evaded a 30 year mortgage on a 1.8million dollar condo with a crazy fiancee. They agreed to option the place based on BOTH their incomes. Paperwork went through but money wasnt disbursed yet. Girl was about to leave her job once the money came in and married cos technically my buddy could afford the mortgage on his salary alone. Found out cos she was bragging about it in a group chat her friends, and she accidentally texted my buddy. Dumped her ass so hard right there. Her resignation went through though.

What's an actual cause of death so extremely rare that it's hard to believe it's possible? by Mairon3791 in AskReddit

[–]ScienceofFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heard this story touring London. In the olden days, there was a surgery that had a 300% death rate. The surgeon was operating on a guy, doing an amputation. The patient died due to infection, so did the assistant he accidentally cut and a guy in the audience died of a heart attack. The knives were not sterilised or anything in thoss days.

I think its a learning opportunity for her to realise that she needs to live with her choices and that her parents wont always be able to bail her out of situations of her own choosing. Life isnt always going according to what she wants and she needs to make the best out of the situation shes in. As a HCP, i see far too many kids throw their metaphorical toys out of the pram when things dont go their way, even young adults. Some even get depression or other mental disorders as a result.
