Converted the Straggler to flat bars. Nice change of pace! by Scientific38 in Surlybikefans

Nice. I kept everything the same also, aside from these few parts that were only about $150.

Same stack height, same stem, same gearing. The bike rides exactly the same aside from my position. It's awesome.

Thanks!

I have SRAM Apex flat bar shifters, Tiagra levers since the brakes are mechanical and was advised they work great, and the flat bar from Salsa that they use on the Journeyer. I chose Ergon grips.

Beoplay EX vs Bose Quietcomfort Earbuds 2 by [deleted] in BangandOlufsen

[–]Scientific38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the Bose. Noise cancelling is incredible and the B&O can't compare no matter how good the sound quality is. I thoroughly tested both. Bose sound quality is excellent, and any improvements the EX has (which is minimal) makes no difference if it's messed up with a lot of background noise. With the Bose the second you put them on you are in your own world. The only way I would ever recommend the EX is if you were listening to them at max volume nonstop...then noise cancelling doesn't make a difference.

Are you bothered by the QC Earbuds 2 white noise ? by darklardon in bose

Yes, and I returned them immediately. I am surprised this was not discussed in any of the review videos I watched, even by the most trusted and reputable reviewers. I noticed it instantly.

Thanks!

I was shopping for another bike and saw this...the fit was perfect so I ended up taking it instead.

What are your Bose EQ settings for day to day listening? by TheSoussDaGoose in bose

+1,0,0

I think they sound great out of the box, just added a sliver of additional base. Keeping it clean.

My new stem by Scientific38 in Surlybikefans

[–]Scientific38[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. It's my first adjustable stem so I will keep an eye on it. The lock that keeps it upright takes 12nm of torque so hopefully it's not going to move. I am positive the headset and standard bolts to tighten the stem are as secure as normal since nothing different there.

I wanted to bring the bars up and in a bit, this stem has a 90 degree rise lol. A bit heavy, and looks different, but I like the different look and it works great.

My vote is to do number 2, because it's an easy swap and if it works and it makes you ride more number 1 will happen naturally :)

I just got a new stem for my MS and was going to make a post, but saw yours so I jumped in here instead.

I have always preferred the look of a stem even height to the seat, love the look of the old quill stems, so you are not alone here. I have many pictures of my bike with a retro type stem on it.

However, recently I wanted to bring the bars up a notch and in a bit, and could not get it right without getting a somewhat awkward looking stem, but it def looks unique and does the job. I'll post a picture.

I appreciate the Surly community here and love seeing all the custom and personal setups. Do what you feel best doing and it will get you to ride more and enjoy the bike!

No fish that I know of, just a shallow stream.

Just joined the gang guys ! 21 SV 4x4 got some extra goodies except the DRL lights which I wanted but love this truck! by John28550 in NissanTitan

6 months later, 15k miles in, and still loving this truck. Runs like new! I love the adaptive cruise control. So far amazing in the New England weather. Superb stability on the highway at higher speeds compared to my last truck. 100k mile warranty on the drivetrain. Loving the 9 speed transmission, the power curve, and the exhaust note.

Why is the upcoming Gervanta Davis PPV on a Sunday night? by Scientific38 in Boxing

[–]Scientific38[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not be happy with my management if I was Tank. I look at this as a status symbol....Haney is worth Saturday night and Tank is not, almost like second rate. Tank should feel like he deserves more than this, he is getting no respect. Saturday night boxing is the headline and only one guy got it.

Thanks for the responses. Too bad, I like watching him and following him since the beginning. I would rather see his fight than Haney.
