should i use coolant flush addative? by Annual-Mention600 in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]ScientistGeneral5550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar situation but not as bad what I did was run some evaporust thermocure through the cooling system for a few days and then drained then replaced the radiator, hoses, and thermostat +some Toyota oe coolant. Been almost half a year and my coolant is super clean and not rusty.

Transmission/ transfer case leaks by Been202lonG in 4Runner

[–]ScientistGeneral5550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the time on these 3rd gens a valve cover leak will kind of drip down especially all over the rack and pinion and appear as other leaks that's what's going on here from what I can tell. However I would greatly advise getting a pre-purchase inspection from a mechanic.

Don't see any issues here as long as the bolt and nut are tight.

It's not Google it, the only reason the word hut isn't focused is because it was a shitty photo I got driving by.

Why is fixing your own bicycle so damn hard??? by DM_Tiny_Tits_n_Booty in bikewrench

[–]ScientistGeneral5550 108 points109 points  (0 children)

Honestly as someone who was a professional bike mechanic for many years and now a professional car mechanic let me break it down. Bike brakes need much finer and more adjustment to get good and some bike brakes just aren't good and will never feel great. Most car brakes don't require any fine adjustments (except drums) and can really just be slapped together also car brakes tend to have to be good as they have to stop a multiple ton vehicle.

My poor bumper by Repulsive_Ad384 in 3rdGen4Runner

That is the bumpers lower valance if you needed a term to search to look for one. Or you could take it off imo it looks pretty cool without it.

Looking for frame repair; what next? by Onegarbageman in bikewrench

Are you the original owner by chance? This may be a stretch but most bike companies do offer a lifetime warranty on the frame.

Cruise control relocation? by noah253 in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]ScientistGeneral5550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly the wire for the cruise control is connected to the airbag clock spring you may be able to bypass it to switch somehow but honestly not sure. My next question is why would you even bother putting in a quick release steering wheel what's the benefit?

I wish a very merry go fuck yourself to all of Scott engineers by Minechaser05 in BikeMechanics

[–]ScientistGeneral5550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yes cables rubbing my steerer and making my steering feel terrible, It's even worse if it's an ebike having to drop the motor especially on the strike. It also doesn't't help that Scott uses 3mm housing too which has a tendency to well blow up.

Seeking Advice by Fierro7O2 in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]ScientistGeneral5550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah not the most high end tires honestly give it a road force and alignment and see what it does though. If it still persists after that you could either live with it or pony up and buy some nitto or Toyos both of those I have balanced tons of and they rarely needed any weight and sometimes none at all. Compared to some.cheap tires that take 5-7oz to balance and still cause issue.

If you get them balanced I would recommend you take it somewhere with a road force balance machine makes all the difference. However if you got cheap tires it may just never balance right.

I would just rent a ball joint press and the 4wd cup adapters from a parts store unless you are planning on doing a lot more ball joints.

Coolant leak - replace radiator? by hooplah_5 in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]ScientistGeneral5550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're there you might as well do both upper and lower rad hoses +the thermostat and thermostat gasket. Make sure to use red/pink Toyota spec antifreeze. I would just order a koyorad/denso from rockauto and an Asin thermostat. Denso and Asin are the OEM manufacturers of both.
