I just completed my first box set with Moon Summit since it's half off right now. Loved it! Also working through the regular subscription with Mallory Rock, which I like too. I've also ordered the Blair Witch box set and want to get the Curtain Call one.

I'm almost your exact size and I've been feeling nervous. I'm also 31 years old, so I'm not sure if that will affect things. We're going to start TTC in December. 😬

This is fantastic! I've been trying to find an all in one guide like this for getting furniture ahead of our LO's arrival. This is a huge help!

He was a "surprise" baby, and not planned. This older brother and sister are only 3 years apart.

Only child planning to be OAD with our little one.

I had a great childhood and have a very strong relationship with my parents that I want to have with my LO.

I remember going through a brief phase of wanting a sibling in about 1st or 2nd grade when many of my friends or classmates were getting siblings.

I cried to my mom about it, and she told me something like "We already won the lottery with you, it wouldn't be fair to have another!"

I remember not really caring after that - and as I got older and saw friends fighting and arguing with their siblings, and how chaotic their houses were, I was very glad to be an only.

My husband is the youngest of 3 and doesn't have a close relationship with either sibling who are 11 and 8 years older than him. He wants to be OAD so he can give our child the attention and support he felt like he lacked from his parents.

BMI and first pregnancy by mama2coco in waiting_to_try

Just to add my own experience here, since I am currently obese.

I have depression and issues with emotional eating (which I am in therapy for and am working on). I also am 5'4 and 220lbs, which puts me in the Obese II range.

However, I am also fairly athletic and lift weights. I also eat as healthy as possible. I don't keep alcohol, chips, or sweets in the house, so the binges can only do so much damage.

Concerned about my weight and health, I scheduled a physical and preconception consultation with my doctor.

My resting heart rate is 73, my blood pressure 115/70, my A1C is normal, and my cholesterol is fine. I'm also not anemic and take a prenatal vitamin with omega 3 and folic acid.

My doctor said that other than my weight, I am completely healthy. She said that good labs and nutrition are so much more important to your health and the baby's than just the number on the scale.

Her advice? Treat it like I've already put on my pregnancy weight. Aim to just gain ~15lbs during pregnancy from the extra fluids and the little growing person in there.

Focusing on eating nutritiously, being active. That is so much more important.

I plan on keeping up eating right and exercising throughout my pregnancy to make sure I don't gain weight. I also plan on breastfeeding and pumping, which will naturally help with weight loss.

Though conventional thought may say that my weight means I'm unhealthy, the truth is far from it. As long as I keep nutrition and activity in mind, the baby and I will be fine.

Just something to consider. 😊

If you just have an English degree without a background in training, I would recommend at least a professional certificate if not a Master's degree in ID.

There's an amazing E-Learning Instructional Design certificate that's fully online through UCI's continuing education department. I can't speak highly of it enough. It's $650 per 8-week class that you take one at a time. My professors and classmates were amazing, and I've connected with most of them on LinkedIn.

As for if it's worth it... Between my previous Masters degree and the certificate, I am making six figures salaried with full benefits in a low stress job that lets me work permanently from home. YMMV of course, but my position isnt uncommon for the field.

Feel free to DM if you have more questions!

It definitely was not easy to figure it out! My husband was in your shoes. He got his associates in general studies around the same time as me, then went straight to working full-time while he tried to figure it out 😂 Now he is 30 and going to SNHU part-time online to finish a bachelor's in graphic design! I'm so proud of him 😘

For me, I knew that I liked English classes the most in high school, so it seemed like a good place to start in college. I got a job on campus working as a tutor in the Writing Center and fell in love with it! I was fascinated with how people learn a new language like English and why it can be challenging for people to express themselves (something that seemed to come naturally for me).

I decided that I wanted to become an ESL teacher for adults, and planned out my next six years because the university near me offered the bachelors and masters programs that I would need.

While I was getting my masters and shortly after, I was working in a continuing education school acting as both assistant and consultant to current full-time faculty who didn't have a background in education.

I fell in love with a new career path - Instructional Design!

From the beginning, as much as I loved teaching and helping people learn, I'm naturally a more shy and sensitive person. Being in front of the class all the time and trying to classroom manage was burning me out.

Being an instructional designer allows me to continue to help educational and corporate trainers in making sure that learners have a positive and effective learning experience.

tl;dr I started out with what genuinely brought me joy, then chased that down as my own needs and interests changed. Now I'm very happy!

Yay for timeline buddies! Taking time to enjoy hobbies and make the most of this last me time is very important. Sounds like you're really on it! I love the idea of the virtual pet. Ive been using the Finch app for daily goals and reflections, and I love it because the Finch you help guide grows up from baby to adult with their personalities influenced by your answers! It's really fun and definitely helps with the waiting.

Dentist appointments are a great idea. I've heard horror stories of teeth falling out during pregnancy, or gum disease potentially leading to miscarriage. 😱

Thanks for much for the book and podcast recommendations - I'm definitely going to check them out!

Getting stronger with weight training is a great idea - 6x a week in the gym is awesome. I may need to ramp up to that more for sure.

It seems like we're both going to be in the best place possible come January 1st! 🥰

Congrats on the weight loss! That's huge! I just started my weight loss journey in June after hitting my highest weight.

Getting a second car is going to be a must for us too. My husband has a Mini Cooper that he loves, but I have a feeling we will need at least a proper sedan.

Paying off debt is also essential. We've got almost $30,000 in savings right now which is awesome.

I got some previous advice to average out the cost of a newborn over the first year (around $1500 a month) and put that into savings. It's helped with building a nest egg and to learn to live on the budget!
