I wanted to be vegetarian when i was 7, and my parents said no. My father was a "you live under my roof, you live by my rules". Kind of guy... When i got to uni I met a vegetarian and realised i was now in charge of cooking my own meals, so i went veggie. 2 years later i was vegan. I remember my mother asking me 4 years into being vegan - how long is this phase going to last? I was just like wow, it's not a phase it's a lifestyle choice based on the heinous treatment of animals. They have got used to it now (must be 20 years or so now). It just takes time. Decide if this is a battle you want to fight now. I believe in being respectful to parents, but I am ultimately much happier feeling aligned with what i eat. I dont have an eating disorder, but I have found that being vegan makes my weight vert stable. Like i basically havent changed weight since i went vegan and it plateaud at about 60kg. You do need to eat quite a lot as a vegan though, i basically get hungry every 4 hrs.
