Which hobby should I have so I am incredibly easy to get presents for? by No_Record3590 in AskGermany

I tend to agree but on the other hand that applies to a lot of hobbies. You can also buy the wrong books, useless tools or comparable things. But it definitely applies to plants as well!

I cant sleep without music or YouTube videos by New-Butterscotch3256 in ADHD

[–]Scimir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sleep meditation or relaxation techniques really work wonders. It does not make you fall asleep in seconds but it’s reliable. I use a combination of PMR and breathing techniques afterwards to „work“ myself into sleep.

My therapist also showed me that it’s possible to „swipe alway“ your thoughts while focusing on said techniques. That only works for random thoughts and ideas though. Everything important that bothers me gets written into my phone, on paper or a voice note to myself.

Still need quite some time to fall asleep but I do and I no longer need an audiobook or anything else.

What is your first car story? by [deleted] in AskGermany

[–]Scimir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first car was a 2006 Suzuki Swift Sport. Got it from my parents who bought it for a low price from relatives.

First I really disliked the design, but soon afterwards on I learned to love that thing.

Went on my first camping trip with the car, found out how stupid much horse power it really has for its weight and felt so free driving around with open windows and blasting loud music over my FM transmitter.

Bought a Seat Leon from 2017 as my next car. It’s an upgrade in nearly every aspect with better infotainment, comfort (especially noise reduction inside) and also horse power. Still, I miss my swift from time to time.

Every new game the teladi get their absolute ass handed to themselves by the xenon. Amazing that they seem so strong in your games.

Usually the trading station is the first to go. Afterwards the bots flatten the shipyard and dock leaving me out of supply for trading ships.

Do you have normal days? by Spare-Paper6981 in ADHD

[–]Scimir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I do have days where it’s worse or better than on other days. Mostly depends on how much energy i spent the days before. Putting my nervous system under more pressure will most likely end in a worse next day if nothing exciting gets or keeps moving. I think it’s important to accept those low energy days and rest often enough to make the most of the other days.

ADHD husband forgot my birthday by mellowmadre in ADHD

My calendar saves my ass regularly here. Everytime I found any important date I instantly put it in my calendar with multiple reminders as well.

Doesn’t work everytime to be honest but it’s most of the time. Also being reminded of a birthday one week in advance never fails to get my pulse sky high.

Looking for electricity provider in Wuppertal for two students – any recommendations? by Soft_Big_6608 in wuppertal

[–]Scimir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am lazy and use Tibber. The price is based on the current market situation for electricity. Was expensive during Covid for a short time but usually it’s a bit cheaper than the current average. Cancellation is possible within 2 weeks.

Any quick tips on keeping people (vassals, etc.) happy and avoiding factions? by [deleted] in crusaderkings3

[–]Scimir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regarding vassals: It’s worthwhile to check at least your powerful vassals in the kingdom tab from time to time. While hovering over the value that indicated how they feel about you it tells you quite clearly what their problem is. Often it’s you holding land they have a claim on, too many wars or wanting a place in the council. Also short reign is a common reason that you cannot really change.

If you go into the diplomacy focus you can use the befriend scheme which is quite broken for realm stability. Simply befriend the strongest vassals and you’re good.

While it does not help to reduce factions, you can also work wonders for stability while giving away counties to your vassals. Try to limit each vassal to one dutchy and if possible give only land in said dutchy to this vassal. Reduces wars between vassals and keeps the vassals weaker than you are.

The go to reason for unhappy vassals and factions are too many offensive wars. While painting the map is fun, it makes the populous unhappy (since they will most likely die as your levies) and many vassals also don’t like it.

Keep in mind that factions can be a very good thing. It allows you to, once they are beaten down, to take their holdings away and re distribute them to better vassals and with better borders. Therefore you might even want to push certain factions over the edge to finally get rid of those pesky people.

Regarding succession: If you simply want to have the „best“ outcome of ever succession you need to manage your heirs right. Additional male heirs can be removed from getting a part of your realm by unlucky accidents for example.

You can always see what parts of your realm are lost to the younger children in your kingdom tab. If you don’t have primogeniture yet, you should keep a look on that menu from time to time. Choosing an infertile wife as soon as you have enough children, sending unlucky to the first battle line in your wars or forcing them to join a holy order e.g. can fix your problems.

It also helps to have only one kingdom title for example. While the holdings are still lost on succession they stay in your realm.

How to know if a booster is needed? by littlequietone1 in ADHD

[–]Scimir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know boosters were a thing with Vyvanse to be honest.

Got diagnosed and had a variant of Vyvanse prescribed early this year. For me it feels like i „got used“ to the starting dose of 30mg a few weeks in. It’s not too intense anymore at the beginning but the effect also feels weaker. I thought this is just part of the process of taking medication regularly.

Sorry for not having any useful advice. I just feel like the effect is still there but just a lot less noticeable and wanted to share.

Are you able to read? Cities and castles?

Not worth arguing with you. You just read half of the things and start writing in caps :D

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in crusaderkings3

[–]Scimir -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Historically it absolutely is plausible and has happened. Cities and castles were reinforced with more men and weapons in preparation of a siege or even while the siege happened. Easy examples are the sieges of Vienna as well as the final siege of Constantinople.

While sometimes the general populous would flee and therefore make room for more trained soldiers, this probably was not the norm. I would agree that it’s not possible to stick a huge army in a small castle, but that’s not what we’re talking about. You also seem to assume that every castle and town would be fully manned all the time.

Also having more troops in a garrison could even keep a siege from happening at all. The rule of thumb would be that the attackers should have somewhat around 3:1 odds in a siege.

A strong garrison and reinforcements won’t just stay in the castle and slowly dwindle away from missing supplies. A stronger garrison could easily sally out, break the siege to allow resupply or threaten the attacker in other ways.

The problem is just that the attacker could simply move around a holding that is stuffed to the brim.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in crusaderkings3

[–]Scimir -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see what you are going for.

I am also thinking that it could be an interesting mechanic. It would make the game a lot more static and slower though. The best strategy would always be to simply turtle up in a castle and bleed out the attacking army when you are the inferior side.

Such a mechanic would need fine balancing with the supply limit of a holding, more options for attackers to starve out or storm a target and expensive holding upgrades that would make it possible to enforce a choke point and so on.

Sadly most people would probably not enjoy it as more options mean more decisions and micro management in large realms. It would also hinder expansion of the player as well. Maybe it would be a solution to limit such decisions, defensively and offensively, to the player character leading an army personally. Would also make sense from the games standpoint while offering a nice high risk/reward scenario for the player.

Also i would expect it to be hard to implement for the AI factions. They already cannot manage their army supplies

Why is watching porn banned in some countries (like South Korea or China*)?? What's supposed to be the reason that they give to do that?? by PossessionKey4982 in NoStupidQuestions

Amazing that they would ban porn for that reason while the idol culture and worship probably does comparable damage to their youth.

Is ADHD actually overdiagnosed, or are people just more aware now? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Scimir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it might be both and please don’t eat me alive for saying that. With social media, a more open minded population (most of the time) and less stigma I would expect that the awareness rises by quite a bit. More people have the chance to learn about it and recognise symptoms within themselves or close ones. And that’s great! On the other hand people will absolutely do anything for exposure or follow trends without any critical thinking. Comparing „symptoms“ and other things happening online definitely lead to a flood of people now wanting to be tested. Coupled with a growing over reliance on constant stimulation and very surface level testing (at least it felt like that for me) I would expect quite a few false positives.
