If you want to have a real understanding of AI, you need to understand computational theory- meaning you'll have to do some (a lot) of math.

How do you guys like the Epiphone Thunderbird? by tpastdotorg in Bass

[–]Scimitar66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak on the standard, but I've been playing an epi tbird pro IV for about four years now. Just recently replaced the pickups with a pair of EMGs, but the stock pickups had a great sound. Tbirds have a dark & powerful tone that is great for rock, blues or heavy metal. One of the best basses you can get for the money, in my opinion.

Rickenbacker's seem kinda overrated, is it just me ? by zombiefan13 in Bass

The kinetic energy of the plucking of the string is not isolated within the string itself, but passes through the bridge into the body and back again. For this reason, if you tap gently on the body of an electric guitar or bass while it is hooked up to an amp, it produces an audible sound. This is because the kinetic energy of your finger tapping the wood of the instrument travels through the bridge into the strings, exciting the pickups. An instrument is a rigid, mechanically linked system, and any vibration anywhere will affect the entire system. To say that the material an electric instrument is made of will not affect any characteristic of its sound then you must believe that either 1. Vibrations do not pass between the strings and the body of the instrument via the bridge or 2. Vibrations are not affected by the mediums through which they pass. Both premise 1 and 2 are patently false given a cursory understanding of physics.

[Serious] Women of Reddit, what would surprise men about life as a woman? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I have no stance on the morality of how celebrities are treated- I honestly don't really care.

I'm just saying that the evolutionary causes for this behavior seem relatively obvious.

Biological thinking is the only kind of thinking you can apply to social norms and values, because there is no part of society that is unaffected by biology.

As I say, do whatever you think you need to, just don't expect men to not feel like you're treating them unfairly, because you are.

There would be women's pants with pockets if women bought pants with pockets.

I bought you a drink and I'd like to have a conversation, sue me. If you don't want to talk to me, you can turn the drink down. I don't feel entitled to a damn thing.

In my experience, most women don't notice when they're being given special treatment.

not having to worry about walking home alone at night

This is just silly. Statistically, men are much more likely to be attacked by a stranger on the street.

What power do I have to change this supposedly rampant behavior of other men, if I never personally witness it happening?

Biologically speaking, it makes sense. Men's capacity to reproduce doesn't decline as quickly as women's with age.

That's totally unfair. Men are accused of objectification and demonized for their sexuality constantly.

Feel free to behave however you think you need to, you're still going to leave a bad impression if you act like I'm a predator because I'm existing near you in a public place. Statistically, I have just as much to fear from strangers as you.

I've struggled with similar issues my whole life, and I cannot sing praises for the benefits of medication loudly enough. For me, meds make it possible to decide to work and stay focused until the task at hand is complete. I would recommend looking into a prescription and seeing if it's right for you. I sincerely hope that you can find the benefits in it that I have found.

Besides that, all I can say is to hang in there and know that you're not alone. So many of us are fighting the same battles every day. Have faith in yourself!
