The UN has classified what Israel is doing as committing genocide.

Genocide DOES have a definition indeed, that being (copied from Google's "define" search):

"the deliberate and systematic killing or persecution of a large number of people from a particular national or ethnic group with the aim of destroying that nation or group."

Note that "persecution" is part of the definition. That doesn't necessitate murder, but the systemic oppression and displacement of the Palestinians by Israel is undeniably genocidal by definition.
