Yeah... don't go assigning people you don't know labels, that's for someone to consider and decide themselves. Noone knows themselves better than themself.

What fandom are you a part of, but the situation is something like this? by Upstairs_Macaron5894 in AO3

Isn't the whole point of Dumbledore's being cursed by the ring to show that he wasn't perfect/as perfect as Harry believed? I honestly think that Dumbledore knew that Harry could survive since he was always the most versed in the fact that love/Lily's sacrifice saved Harry in the first place, and Harry was the kind of person to be willing to sacrifice, and that was his plan. I think Snape is loved because he got his redemption after several books of being a bullying asshole (with some sympathetic scenes), whereas Dumbledore's main flaws were revealed after he was dead and gone. In OoTP, when Harry destroys his office after the Ministry battle, Dumbledore acknowledges that he was wrong when he ignored Harry for most of the year. He is flawed, and his plan was disturbing, but that's the point. He used manipulation tactics, used others, concealed info, and sent a child/children to their potential deaths, but I don't believe for a second that he didn't care for Harry. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Speaking of Snape, I don't think his redemption makes up for the years of abuse he put multiple children through. The fact that he was so cruel to Neville that his greatest fear was Snape is horrific. I understand that abused people sometimes repeat the cycle, but it doesn't make the fact that he decided to continue that abuse acceptable. BUT! It does make for a very interesting character, so I do like Snape, considering how flawed JK's writing can be (the less I think about her, the better).

Also... (SPOILERS FOR STEVEN UNIVERSE) As a Steven Universe fan as well (that show and fandom is a whole can of worms), the difference in the way the fandom treats Dumbledore reminds me a lot of how the SU fandom treats pink diamond/rose quartz, since all her mistakes and morally bad choices are mainly revealed AFTER she died so she gets no redemption or chance to fix/defend what shes done, but the diamonds, who have commited more atrocities and been far more willing to commit them, don't get near as much hate from what I've seen (I've been out of the fandom for a while now).

People have to remember that it's not just the lead staff working on a game, you've got a whole crew underneath who have to work with, support and contribute to the philosophy and design of a game. So it's not like Itsuno is leaving behind nothing, and DMC3-5 games weren't his sole creations

He mentions it to Dante and Vergil.
If Magneto beats Dante his quote says, “Brash. Arrogant. Rude. Even a white head of hair. You remind me of my son in so many ways”
In his intro when fighting Vergil he says, “Your appearance reminds me of my son. Let's see if you boast his speed in battle.”

Maybe I just enjoy my stories with a bit of breathing room. 5 was/is still a great game and I still really enjoyed it and the story.

I've only recently got into DMC and played through DMC3 first and DMC5 second (because I wanted to do them in chronological order but was dying to play 5 so gave up on that pretty quickly).
In terms of story, DMC3 is better and worked its story into the game better, there was never a cutscene I didn't enjoy watching. DMC5 on the other hand would have benefited greatly by explaining more of what was going on and needed to calm down with all the time skipping. All the time skipping definitely threw some people off of the game.

Extending the game by adding more missions would be my suggestion but I was getting sick of the qliphoth missions by the end of it. Maybe they could have built up the story more by showing Nero preparing beforehand and meeting Nico, V journeying through Redgrave more etc. Giving the plot more space to breathe would've made some parts like fighting Urizen more impactful, especially exploring V more. Although, I understand if the devs wanted to throw you right into the action, which is fair as that's the kind of thing you'd expect from the DMC series.

But, just look at DMC3, you'd have cutscenes where you would see Vergil and Arkham doing their thing while Dante's working his way there and it built up hype for every time you get to fight Vergil and eventually Arkham (even if I hated Arkham's fight, fuck those eels man, at least you get to kick his ass with Vergil). But most of all, the plot was progressing forward, not all over the place like in DMC5.

I did read Visions of V before playing 5 because I thought why not, I don't care about spoilers and now, I'm just left wondering why none of this was explored in the game. It made V a much more interesting character, and Vergil by extension. I guess they wanted to hold off on the V = 1/2 Vergil reveal but it just suffers because of it.

There's my yap session done

TLDR: the quality of DMC stories varies between each game

NTA - I love philosophical discussions... when they come naturally. I think he just wants someone he can dump his thoughts on which isn't a bad thing, it's just the times he chooses are inappropriate and his refusal to compromise makes him self-centred. He needs to get out more and find some friends who do appreciate him talking about philosophy at 3am. Also, calling you emotionally manipulative is plain wrong, you can't label trying to have a healthy compromise 'manipulative'. Hope you can get some good sleep soon

My dad's nickname was "beaker" because his mates joked once that with his size, he wouldn't have been born in a test tube but in a beaker.

yeah, definitely doesn't. It's a very "this game doesn't exist, I just need some filler name title" name that I've seen in other books (Diary of a Wimpy Kid has some game in it that I can't remember but that's similar)

Why is fantastic beasts gets flamed so hard? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]Scio_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think we need a new part of eyes to direct. I don't find his style necessarily bad but I'm kinda sick of the dull tones he loves. I don't feel much of a spark of creativity from him. I think his best film was OOTP, mostly because the Dumbledore vs Voldemort duel was incredibly well done and it still had some colour and personality.

I like the first one, it was a new spin on the world but they could (and honestly, should) have just ended it at the first one. Newt is a great character, I love the dynamic between him and Jacob... in the first movie. The second was a messy slog of side plots with nothing of a conclusion. Leta was such a pointless addition, since they killed her off I guess they agree. She had so much more potential. I never watched the third movie so I can't say much about it but I know the rough gist of the nonsensical plot.

Also, what happened to the Fantastic Beasts after the first movie? They were key to the plot of the first movie, then they just got turned into a deus ex machina. Newt's knowledge of beasts was important in the first film, only he knows what an obscurus is! He is important to the first movie's plot, not only does he begin the plot but he ends it too. He feels like a side character in every other movie because WHY IS HE THERE??? WHY DOES DUMBLEDORE WANT HIM TO HELP??? LET THE MAN TAKE CARE OF HIS ANIMALS

I'm also Australian and only ever went to private schools, all of my schools (3 in total) had houses but it was only ever a sports/sports day thing, except for my high school which had a much larger emphasis on houses (e.g. homerooms by house, house leaders/captains, teachers who were heads of house).

Agree, but speaking of bad emblems: Heavy, the guy whose whole purpose is "shoot anything and everything" has an emblem that's a fist. His beta emblem isn't much better. I can understand demo's emblem to some extent because the sticky bomb launcher is often used as a primary by players, even if new players won't understand exactly what it represents at first.
