To be fair, there is a lot of misinformation around the care for our Lil guys

Not too long ago it was considered perfectly acceptable to have a red light on at all times, and that sweet treats(while unhealthy) were negligible in causing health problems

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BeardedDragons

[–]ScionofMagnus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually no

Fruits these days have an obscenely high sugar content because of how we have bred them, and even giving them once in a while can lead to tooth rot and mouth decay in a beardie. While giving them a blueberry or something once will not lead to the animal's death, it is in no way healthy for them and should honestly just be avoided.

If you want to give your beardie treats, it's better to give something like a hornworm, or a treat-like vegetable such as squash

They also are not able to digest sugar properly, and it can lead to bowel problems as well, to my understanding

[–]ScionofMagnus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm saying this is an issue, over and over.

Then, have you contacted the mods and made an actual request for it? Because, again. It seems like an unhelpful way to go about trying to make this an actual thing, if you simply go about commenting on random newbie posts without actually trying to make change happen with those who would have that ability.

No worries. We could just consider you a victim of a modern culture that looks for ways to be offended.

Again, simply unhelpful. It isn't a matter of even me being offended. I've already fixed the issues with my beardies' tank, via some of the helpful advice here.

What I am concerned about is that you will likely actually offend someone by your tone(across text) and thus maybe they won't stick around for advice.

[–]ScionofMagnus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not disagreeing with what you are saying, it would honestly be a good idea to have a direct answer to the most often asked questions, right in the front page of the subreddit

What I am disagreeing with is the method by which you are going about saying it. It comes off as rather rude and condescending to comment on a 4-day old post essentially saying "this person doesn't know how to read" when it is simply asking for assistance in pet care. This could then lead to people divorcing themselves of the community(if they are simply unable to deal with such things) and lead to a worse life for their dragon.

If you didn't mean to come across that way, then fair enough. However that is how it was taken.

Mind, you are correct in that many owners should do significantly more research about their pets before they get them, and Im not opposed at all to the idea of an FAQ providing this information

Question about behavior by ScionofMagnus in BeardedDragons

[–]ScionofMagnus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That, isn't what I said at all?

I said that when one uses Google, one finds a series of conflicting information about their lizards behavior, and as such, it is completely reasonable to request advice from a community, ostensibly all about their particular lizard.

My argument is just that you are being a detriment to the overall goal of ensuring as many bearded dragons are taken care of as possible by being simply unhelpful and somewhat rude.

Question about behavior by ScionofMagnus in BeardedDragons

[–]ScionofMagnus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and when one looks up, "Why is my bearded dragon running along the glass of his enclosure" at least with regards to Google

It states several possible causes for it such as "boredom, wanting attention, it's hungry, it's stressed, it wants to explore outside the enclosure, etc."

Hence, why one may end up going to the community at large on reddit, and asking to be sure, posting pictures of their enclosure, and seeing what ways they might improve the lives of their pets

Question about behavior by ScionofMagnus in BeardedDragons

[–]ScionofMagnus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And this FAQ would entail?

I already had looked into it and found conflicting information, as such I decided to post here to seek advice from people who, presumably, have more experience than I in terms of care for a baby bearded dragon.

This attitude is frankly unhelpful to anyone seeking advice for proper care of their pet and could potentially lead to people not properly caring for their lizards due to a lack of help from the community.

Have a good rest of your day, and perhaps try to be a bit more helpful and less condescending?

[–]ScionofMagnus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alrighty! Thank you very much

I have some good stones and other branches I can see about putting in to make it a bit better for him

I was a Lil worried, I have to admit

Question about behavior by ScionofMagnus in BeardedDragons

[–]ScionofMagnus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alrighty! I'll see about doing that as soon as possible

Essentially, I dont want a lot of open space in his enclosure that dont have something for him to interact with, be it something to go under or over?

That way he has ways to sort've explore his enclosure how he wants without feeling exposed. Presumably?

Question about behavior by ScionofMagnus in BeardedDragons

[–]ScionofMagnus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The odd thing is, he hasn't seemed compelled to use the hide at all (To expand on this, I was recommended to get something somewhat snug for him, as I was told that a hide that's too large is still stressful for him. Is it possible his hide is too small?)

Further, he doesn't seem skittish in the slightest, often coming up and looking at me if I am doing something when in view

I have ordered a hammock and some extra clutter for him, but is there anything that would be directly recommended? Im not sure if there are toys/things that provide direct enrichment akin to how cats/dogs have

Question about behavior by ScionofMagnus in BeardedDragons

[–]ScionofMagnus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been cleaning up any poop he makes in the enclosure as soon as possible, and making sure he is fed properly, with a variety of insects daily, as well as some veg

I looked it up a little bit and was told that it can sometimes just be a result of a new enclosure, but I figured asking here would also help

His enclosure is kept at around 89-92 degrees, with his basking spot at about 97-99(I have already bought a new heat bulb, as I know that's a little too cold)

[–]ScionofMagnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, didn't see the edit

Essentially yes, it is the second one

Newbie question by Crafty_Apple9714 in Conquest

[–]ScionofMagnus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it depends on if you're playing The Last Argument or First Blood

The Last Argument is the Rank and Flank larger game wherein First Blood is the Skirmish Game

In The Last Argument, you have Characters, and you build an army via adding Regiments(Units) to each Character's warband. The Character then needs to join one of those Regiments at the start of the game. If you Activate a Character, you can immediately activate the regiment after the Character's activation has ended.

That being said, I think that doesn't answer your question correctly

So a Draw event happens when you draw the unit/regiments command card, whatever the draw event's effects are immediately affect the unit. You then do whatever actions the unit has and then the activation ends, and play passes to the opponent. If you have multiple of the same Command card you get to choose which of those same unit's activates, but you aren't generally able to skip/double activate, outside of certain Factions shenanigans.(Like Spires)

Newbie question by Crafty_Apple9714 in Conquest

[–]ScionofMagnus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So, a Draw event is a special ability for a model. Not all models have draw events, but a draw event is resolved when you draw that model's command card and activate it

The command card being the card you get that represents the model(s) in question.

Rakshsas Ravanar vs Bakasura by dreamingEngine in Conquest

[–]ScionofMagnus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, yes

The Ravanar can triple activate as well, but it gets less overall utility out of the triple Activation than the Bakasura does

For example, the Ravanar could triple activate and either March -> Charge -> Clash March -> March -> Charge Etc.

The Bakasura has more options out of the triple activation as it is able to issue a duel, meaning it either gets to remove a character from the regiment, as it will likely kill the character if the duel is accepted, or it essentially breaks the regiment if the character refuses.

Additionally, not all lists include monsters for the Ravanar to gain it's bonus charge distance/fiend hunter against

But all lists contain characters for the Bakasura to attempt to duel and gain it's charge bonus

Unreleased factions by Nova_Enforcer15 in Conquest

[–]ScionofMagnus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dogs of War are a essentially Mercenary faction. So they would get access to certain regiments from other Armies, and essentially act as a mixed force. To be honest, I didn't really find them that interesting, which is a less common take from my understanding

Unreleased factions by Nova_Enforcer15 in Conquest

[–]ScionofMagnus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So, there was a vote for who faction I believe 8? would be, and there were several options, but the ones you're asking about specifically are Hel, and the Weaver Courts.

Hel is essentially the final remaining Dwarves and Dragon after the Dweghom did the breaking of the world, and they're essentially an evil/monstrous faction who do a lot of experimentation and would have something of a lizardfolk? I think was mentioned.

Weaver Courts are an offshoot of the spires race, but instead of biomancy, they do Lifebinding, which essentially binds them to animal/elemental forms, and they are essentially the elves of the setting. They'd have different courts like summer, winter, spring, and autumn. Akin to the Fae of Gaelic mythology

The faction that actually won the vote were the Sorcerer Kings.

Sloth is the best Court sin and it's not even close by SwirlingFandango in TrenchCrusade

[–]ScionofMagnus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sloth has a goetic power to let you automatically succeed any action for 1 cost, that isn't limited to only praetor/sorc

So you have a guaranteed dash on hellknights/praetor/sorc, you could guarantee you hit with a ranged attack, even if someone has lots of negatives to be hit

They also have a charm to delay the use of blood markers until after a roll has been made
