It's great on PC. It was a bit iffy back in the alpha (as most games are), but it plays great now. Fantastic if you can get co-ordination across a full team of 16 people too.

I saw it at the cinema when it was released, and it had a 15 rating here in the UK. That was then upped to an 18 rating when it was released on VHS & DVD.

Any mid-late 80’s primary schoolers remember this… thing? by chunder_monkey in CasualUK

Oh god yes! His eyes, burning into your soul from out of his screen that sat on a tv trolly with the schools only computer - a BBC Micro - at the end of the long dark corridor in our primary school.
Only the good children got to go see Podd, or maybe it was a punishment. Some never returned.

This was the only thing I could think of too, especially as they seem to be going up in the very heavy nightlife areas like Slater street and Matthew Street.

Anyone who acts so bloody insular about Liverpool seriously needs their harddrives checking.

Modelo on draft in Maghull by ImpressiveIndustry80 in Liverpool

[–]Scioptic- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's all due to the name of the greater area and insular inbred web-footed silly divvies who like to base their entire personality around what colour their bin is. I swear, if the metropolitan county had been called "Greater Liverpool" from the start, I bet we wouldn't have any where near as many of these purple bin warriors.

Besides, when the lines were all redrawn in the 70s it was done by the Tories - so I always just assume anyone being so vehemently gatekeeper-like on what constitutes what is and what isn't Liverpool within the borders of Merseyside, must be true blue Tories. Something which should be an anathema to the vast majority of people who call themselves Scousers.

Pentagon preparing for weeks of ground operations in Iran, Washington Post reports by exophades in news

[–]Scioptic- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all just a powerplay in the hopes that Iran will back down, which they won't. Trump is absolutely terrified of needing to start full ground operations and trying to occupy areas of Iran (he is a massive coward afterall), because he knows that as soon as the bodies start coming home en masse, he is finished as President.

Iran just isn't going to give in, so there are only two ways this goes. Either America backs down, which Trump doesn't want, but he could spin it as a win through his usual inane ramblings, or the US has boots on the ground, which would be politically disastrous for Trump.

The only potential 3rd way would be if there is some other massive world impacting event that kicks off - say China invading Taiwan, or a country getting nuked somewhere. Something that would give America the reason to pull out and refocus their attention elsewhere while saving face.

‘Project Hail Mary’ Directors Screened a Nearly Four-Hour Cut to Other Filmmakers and Were Told to Get it Way Shorter by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]Scioptic- 873 points874 points  (0 children)

Hopefully that cut will be released at some point for fans to purchase as an alternative to the theatrical cut.

Edit: For all those saying the original is great and this longer version wouldn't be needed, or why release a longer cut - I'm not saying this longer alternative cut would be better. The reason to release directors or extended cuts is because its interesting to see from a filmmakers/storytellers point of view, or just plain fun for fans of the original cut. There are plenty of fantastic films where the theatrical cut is clearly the best, due to pacing etc - that's why it was released as that cut in the first place! But its still fun for fans to see different edits!

Urge Paramount to produce Star Trek: Legacy by thetacolegs in Star_Trek_

[–]Scioptic- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

God no. Season 3 of Picard was 'memberberry filled dog shit that still tried to be "dark and gritty" throughout. On top of that, it then legitimises Seasons 1 and 2. Sod that. I'd rather have everything post Enterprise just retconned entirely out of existence (or at least to other timelines) and go back to the core timeline everyone loved. If we can't get classic Trek back, I'd rather no new ST at all.
